For six long Martian months, John Carter has haunted the terrifying Temple of the Sun. Inside the walls of this mysterious revolving tower is his beloved wife, Dejah Thoris, the beautiful princess of Barsoom. Worse yet, his wife is trapped there with the lovely but wicked Phaidor, who has sworn to make John Carter her own - even if it means murder. How can Carter gain access to the Temple, whose doors swing open only once a year? And when he does find his way inside, will he find Dejah Thoris's welcoming embrace - or her corpse?

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narrator is much slower at reading than previous one. It is hard to keep your mind focused on the story. I may switch to 1.5x speed.

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, most of my friends dont want to hear swearing.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. K. Rowling? Why or why not?

Yes, I do like her writting style. But this one was too much "adult language" for me. Didnt get past chapter three before I turned it off.

Was The Casual Vacancy worth the listening time?

It might be if you dont mind swearing. I was wondering where the story was going to go. And it peeked my interest. But stopped listening after the F word was ringing in my ears. Maybe the swearing stopped after that?

    Any additional comments?

I dont enjoy swearing. I wish you could have ratings for audio books like movies. I think J.K. Rowling was trying to prove she could appeal to an adult audience. She missed the fact that there are many of us who appreciate a more mature book without all the language of real life.
