The biggest redwood trees are over 1,000 years old, rising more than 35 stories in what's left of the once-vast, ancient redwood forest. Believed to be impossible to ascend, these majestic giants have remained unexplored until recently, when a tiny group of daring botanists and amateur naturalists discovered a lost, dangerous, and hauntingly beautiful world high above California.

    Cris says: "Great book!"
    "Well worth the listen."
    Overall

Richard Preston’s voice and the narrative style of his prose were easy listening. Even though this is an abridged version, I learned a lot.

Unlike his brothers, Vane Cynster vows to never marry. The eligible women of London have different plans for him, however. Seeking safety at Bellamy Hall, the residence of his eccentric godmother, Vane doesn't expect to meet any new unmarried women. But upon his arrival, he encounters the voluptuous Patience Debbington in the garden. When their gazes meet for the first time, she is filled with a sensation that leaves her quivering.

    Lee says: "Good romance"
    "Not her best work!"
    Overall

Before listening to this book, I deeply enjoyed all Stephanie Laurens’ books I’ve read. This one was a disappointment due to shallow leading man, shallow leading woman, and shallow plot and over the top theatrics on the part of the narrator. Try her “The Lady Chosen” instead.
