I would and have recommended this series to as many people as I could find. I have listened to this series 3 times now and all 3 times it's like it was new. I still get goose bumps and chills every time.

When I review this book, I review the whole trilogy. Why? Because I couldn't finish one without moving right to the next! This trilogy grips you and the narration is top notch! Steven Pacey did such an awesome job of developing each and every character so completely. If you let this book pass you by then you have missed the chance of a lifetime.

Joe Abercrombie is a master story teller as evident by the First Law trilogy. In this book he builds on old characters and develops new ones that you quickly love and love to hate. If you loved the First Law series, this is more of the same good stuff!

Michael Page does a decent job but nothing compares to Steven Pacey from the First Law series.

I had to read all of his books! You can't stop after the first trilogy and not want more!

I loved the fact that nothing is sacred in this book. No one is safe from death or misfortune. Through the whole book I never knew who would live or who would die and it kept me on my toes to the end. Further more I like the system of magic the author uses and the style of enemy he has chosen.

This is a fresh twist on magic and will suck you in fast. Be ready to listed for hours!

This book was an unexpected gem. I was looking for books based on viking and Celtic backgrounds and this book did not fail me. I did get this book just to kill time but was pleasantly surprised how well written and exciting it was. Definitely on of my favorite books!

This book kept me on my toes. There are plenty of twists and turns which will keep you listening long past your intended time. The end is truly unexpected and makes this book so very worth it!

As a fantasy fanatic, it's nice to read a book every now and then that doesn't have magic or a main character who is so far above everyone else. There is nothing grand about anyone in the book, just their exceptional skill at what they do and the training they have poured into their art.

The narrator did an outstanding job. He managed to give all the characters their own personality and helped me see each of them in my minds eye perfectly.

There were spots that seemed to drag a bit but altogether I remained interested.

I keep waiting for a third book to come out and check back regularly to see if it has.

I have to admit I have not read the book.

Of course the main character since this book is about him in his own words.

I wouldn't say a moment, but instead say it is his passion and drive to do what is right in his mind for his family, country and fellow combatants.

This story is a down and dirty look at the job of a special warfare operator. If your looking for fancy writing and catchy scenes then this isn't for you. This book made me feel as if I were sitting with Chris Kyle around a camp fire drinking a beer listening to him tell about his life and the experiences he had. Having met some of the people in his book, they said it is true to his personality and how he tells it in person. No frill, no fluff, just the honest perspective of someone who was in the right places at the right time. The man is truly humble and doesn't see himself as a hero, just someone who did the job he was told to the best he could. This book is a sobering look at the combat zone of today.

I always love the way Sanderson puts a new twist on magic. He always seems to come up with new and creative ways in which one, or all of the people in his worlds can gather power or have power bestowed on them. Hands down this is what I love about his writing.

Then ending was what killed it for me. There were some lose ends and questions as to why some of the key characters didn't use what was at their disposal much sooner. This could have been remedied with a bit more explanation i guess but it did leave me frustrated.

One character in particular sounded like a surfer dude who was high all the time. Really kept me from caring what was going on with his character development.

Probably, and only because it would be based on a Sanderson book.

Visit the Mistborne series first. Sanderson really shines in that trilogy and you can see right away how great an author he is! He really is awesome!

This book put the hooks in for me. I love the fresh way the author embraces multiple myths from multiple religions and cultures to tell his story. A totally new approach and well executed!

I like what the story didn't tell more than what it did. There is so much room for the author to expand on this story it has potential to go on and on and on.

He seems somewhat nonchalant in his narration during what I would consider a high stress time. I had trouble deciding weather the situation was actually as dire as the author intended. Don't get me wrong though, all in all I feel he DID do an excellent job!

The book is too short. I guess i just love long reads. In my mind, all 3 books could be put together to make the first book in a great series!

I spent a credit on this book because of the reviews. I wish I had saved it. Perhaps the main reason I disliked this book so much is because it is the first book following my finishing the Joe Abercrombie series. The book drug on a lot and sometimes I would forget I was listening to something for a full 5 minutes. In short, if you want to listed to someone telling a story about how awesome, smart, intelligent, charmingand cunning they are, then this is the book for you. I felt like I was listening to the "1 Upper" guy tell his story. He has always done something twice as hard, three times as good and experienced more hardship and loss than anyone else. Bleh

Ok, I have made it to book 3. I'll be honest, I am only downloading this book to finish this series. I hate stopping in the middle so I'm going to choke down the rest of it just so I know what happens.

In my opinion the writer doesn't allow for the realistic development of the characters skills enough. Am I to believe that at the end of a few months of travel this farm kid can master a sword better than one of the greatest hero's? Then there is the way magic works in this story. If Eragon can summon back an arrow shot into a lake, why not the weapons from his enemies? If he can pull the life force from living things around him, why not land in the center of the enemy's camp in the middle of the night and just suck the life from them? Too many holes in this writers ideas and not well thought out.

Also, Eragon is hands down the most whiny complaining hero I have ever come across in my life. Half the time I want the bad guys to kill him so I can feel vindicated for having to listen to him complain all the time.

All in all I would urge people to pass on this series and try something else. Maybe is I had not read stories like the Wheel of Time series first, I may have liked this a bit more. But now... it can't even hold a candle.
