"Too funny"
Tina is the funniest, the best - someone you want to have many dinners with - I laughed out loud.
We need more TInas in this OH SO serious world!
"HUH!"
Witty, Clever, Fascinating, Funny, Intelligent, Complicated... I could go on and on - these are some of the things that Dorothy was - and all the things that this book isn't.
How does someone write so unemotionally and without any sympatico for her subject?
I was looking for more - I was sadly disappointed.
"Wake me when it is over"
THis is a fascinating subject - one that has intrigued me for 50 years. I could not wait to get this to listen to on my commute. True story - different and new angle - just fascinating.
The problem is I am falling asleep. The narrator is the most boring voice (human - or computer) that I have ever had the displeasure to have to hear. It makes it difficult to know if the book is also boring - but I doubt it. My husband bought the hard copy - I give up on the audio and will try the hard copy and let you know.
Two things - listen to the narrator before you buy
and
SOMEONE- authors, publishers - Find narrators with a little - just a tiny ounce of expression.
Hours trying to listen to a person that makes you want to pour hot wax in your ears....not good!
"Disappointed"
I was unable to listen for more than an hour - I really tried -but the narrator was so modern and inappropriate sounding that I just could not listen. The book is narrated by Carol Bilger and it is like listening to Shakespeare read by a surfer chick from California. It was so far away from the period - so sappy sounding - What a disappointment - I will never buy another book without listening to the sample.
