I loved the story, the nods to H.P. Lovecraft, the sweetness within the tough-as-nails characters, and the tough backbone of the sweet characters. The bad guys are bad, the good guys are better, and I love that! Oliver Wyman narrates perfectly!
I like the author's writing skills. He tells a great story and the voice of his main character, Owen Zastava Pitt, comes through loud and clear, in print and in audio.
There are so many, and telling would only give away parts of the story, so I'll pass on this question!
Yes, there were many. Again, I can't go into detail, as it would give away too much. I'd hate to ruin anything for a new reader of this book!
I think Oliver Wyman is the perfect narrator for this book and this series, and I hope this combination continues for the duration of the series.
The one item that bothered me was that Mr. Wyman mispronounced one word in the novel - one word which was used many times and is, in fact, a staple of this sort of story... but I enjoyed the narration so much, I disregarded it and chose to "hear" it correctly even when he didn't catch it...
I'm surprised the editing or directing staff didn't catch that, either. I'll leave the word a mystery... most people might not even notice, unless they are reading along! :)
