It begins with an explosion. Another day, another bus bomb. Everyone, it seems, is after a piece of Turkey. But the shockwaves from this random act of 21st century pandemic terrorism will ripple further and resonate louder than just Enginsoy Square. Welcome to the world of The Dervish House; the great, ancient, paradoxical city of Istanbul, divided like a human brain, in the great, ancient, equally paradoxical nation of Turkey. The year is 2027....

If you could sum up The Dervish House in three words, what would they be?

Before reading any reviews, I had already done what the first reviewer predicted: went to Google Earth, Wikipedia, and image search to learn more about a city and region in which I had previously had no interest whatsoever. I've been reading science fiction for well over 50 years, and, judging from this, my first encounter with Ian McDonald, he writes as well as any SF author I know.

What does Jonathan Davis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The Performance was spectacular, but I do agree that, as is the case with other Audible selections, there need to be pauses between scene changes.

    Any additional comments?

My other complaint is that, when I came back to Audible to buy all the other McDonald books, they didn't have any!
