Well, I was SO excited to see the final book available despite Z.A. Recht's untimely death. I thought for sure the family or publisher (or whomever decided) would surely have chosen an author to do the series justice. Boy was I wrong. The first part of book 3 is great and obviously leading up to something. Then Mr. "Brannan" takes over. I'm sure he's a good author but Recht had great insight into the military workings and lingo. It seems the "new" author had to do some research and clearly fell short. It just seemed as if the last part of the book tried to be a quick "resolve" but there was NO resolution, only a continuation of the story which led me wanting more. I don't want to spoil anything but it was full of nonsensical actions that the other two books would have never included. For instance the guy going out to wander around after he should have been monitored for quite some time just to make certain he was "safe". Then there's the group of survivors who have made such an epic heroic journey in the first two books - now they talk too loudly or make huge fires that result in their death. They would have never made those mistakes by Z.A.'s "pen". Another example is the sheriff who was full of common sense toughness is now suddenly super GI Joe (though never being in the military) instead of a down home hero who gets the bad guys with his experience, common sense & wit. Mason, the hero in the past is nothing more than a means to an end in this book. I felt like the story was left hanging and he could have done so much more. I'm really disappointed and had the first two books not been so good I would have given it a 2 star instead of a 3. The narrator was great as usual though some of this spanish american accents could use a little work. It's a Shame really. RIP Z.A Recht your stories will be missed!!!
boring, dry, VERY hard to follow, all the characters seem exactly alike to me. The "bad guy" is not scary just annoying. Stopped after a few chapters.
OMG OMG OMG. Best one yet! I really think I like the Elizaless story much better. Mike & Family set out looking for Dr. Baker thinking he can cure BT & Mike's son. Both had been infected but not yet turned. BUT not only does the Talbot caravan provide awesome entertainment - Tufo gives us the back story of Mrs. D. and it is a doozy! Better yet...........TRIPP is back! Gotta love the stoner with a big personality. It seems Mike & Company aren't the only ones looking for Dr. Baker. A military group with connections to Mrs. D. is also interested in the Doc. Everyone ends up in the same place and we learn more about what started this whole zombie apocalypse.
Mike & the group start to ponder on whether or not GOD is steering the group together & somewhere since there are allot of events that they had been chalking up to coincidences or fate that now seem outrageously unlikely. I don't mind the religious aspect of 7 at all but I hope, are you listening TUFO?, the author doesn't turn this whole series into a Lost finale and the Talbot party is in purgatory. That would not fly with us loyal fans. GOD helping out, fine, Mike waking up in the shower and this is all a bad dream, Mike being in a psych ward & slowly coming out of his stupor and purgatory/hell would be an insult to those of us who love this series!!!! I don't know if that's where he is going but I hope not. The book kind of ends abruptly but I don't have a problem with it at all. It simply means there's a book 8!!!
Zombie Fallout 7 is the best yet! WOW
Our hero, Emily, was likable yet flawed (really ride a bike from NY to Alaska instead of learning to drive quickly? puleez). I love a story that has "monsters" (monsters & zombies - Christmas Day) and I liked how these were portrayed. A nice premise and I think book two will be even better than the first. There were a few cliches that I could have lived without but for the most part interesting and entertaining.
Red rain begins falling & people die. Aliens? Terrorists? Monsters appear that may or may not be Aliens but definitely scary. Emily doesn't see a single soul but is lucky enough to find a well trained and protected malamute. They journey north towards Jacob & his group of scientist hoping the cold will stave off the effects of the "red rain". Along the way she meets a surviving family and they join her on her trek. Emily runs into lots of problems along the way but triumphs!
looking forward to book 2.
I did NOT like this one! Boring boring boring. The characters were a cliche, the story was predictable and the "blog" just didn't work.
OMG I absolutely loved this last (sadly) chapter in Deuce's adventure. The story picked up with just as much action as it left off with. I love how the author has invented the "freaks" (humans mutated from biological weapons, testing and evolution). Deuce & Fade are a great believable couple. I'm in my 40's and I enjoyed this"young adult" couple.
Ok, Salvation is surrounded & attacked, Deuce creates her own army/resistance, there are unexpected allies and finally Deuce has a family and a real home. She and Fade and her new found family live happily ever after (some are not so lucky) in a place they can finally call home...........and safe!
Get it you won't regret it. I really hate that the series has ended. .
I'll admit, I only purchased this because it was the deal of the day. Otherwise it would have sat in my wish list. Man am I glad I did! It's nice to see Appalachian (I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky) people portrayed in a positive light. The author did a great job - though no one I grew up spoke so "proper" lol.The narrator needed to give it a bit more hillbilly twang. I won't hold it against him since I love Guidall. What a great premise. Not to give too much away..............a small community in West Virginia is suddenly uprooted and thrown into Germany in the 1600's. The author set it up cleverly to get a mixture of people into the town. The hero of the story is attending his sister's wedding along with several out of town guests and pretty much the rest of the town. History is changed. I am off to purchase the other books in the series right now! Great listen. LOVED it!!!
I'm either the only person who hated this story or the only horror/fantasy fan that purchased it! I liked The Terror and the title and description is hinting towards a "creature" making an appearance so I gave it a try. why oh why did I give it a try. If you are a climber or have an interest in it then definitely you'd like this book. If you're a horror/supernatural/fantasy fan don't waste you're time. He just goes on and on and on and on with details. If he wrote a description of how to boil an egg it would go like this.......walk with one foot in front of the other. Cautiously so you do not fall. Concentrate on this task and do not get distracted. If you hear a noise for example, perhaps a doorbell it is best to wait until you've reached your destination to investigate the sound. You then lift your right hand, unless you are left handed in which case you would lift the left hand and grasp the refrigerator door firmly. If you don't grasp it firmly you will not have enough momentum to actually open the door. Once the door is opened search diligently and methodically through the contents looking for the egg carton...........you get the idea. By the time you learn how to boil an egg you've lost interest and anything he has to say is so boring you really just don't care anymore, assume the boiled egg would be just as boring and would grab a bag of chips. Off to get a bag of chips and look for another book!
What a waste of time & credit. It really had potential too. The author spends WAY too much time on developing secondary characters that all die. Why bother. Slow, no horror here. Next...................
Dry, monotone almost embarrassing american accents
maybe if you can get past the narrator you MIGHT enjoy the book.
Classic case of narrator ruining the book
LOVE love love these two together. They could write & read a phone book and it would be a hit. THANK YOU AUDIBLE for your new Daily Deal!!!
This one is a little more gory that the usual Tufo fare but the humor, great characters and phenomenal story are all there.
Even though the sale is over don't hesitate to get it. You'll love it.
