"REPLACE THESE"
I wrote about this for book 5. I have contacted Books in Motion about this. The production values and narrator of this book are so bad that Audible should refund our credits till the books are re-released with a proper narrator. (Jerry Sciarrio :-). LIstening to this at 2x speed and constantly jumping back to figure what the heck is going on, kept these two books from being impossible to listen to. I love the series and want to own it, But Not with this poor level of narration. Books in Motion, please correct this.
"Where is Jerry Sciarrio?"
OMG! This is the worst narrator. Beware!... Persue a refund till they get someone else to read this book.
Our favorite heavy worlder scottsman, now speaks like a 75 year old German woman . (German and Scottish accents aren't close) All of the Characters we have come to know, now sound like flamboyent female impersonators.
And the aliens sound like 50's era TV Western China-men.
The extended dramatic pauses between verb and object or subject in almost every sentence, makes the book unintelligible. I have to listen to the reader at 2X speed just to get a sense of what is going on. "Oy Vay" this is really bad. Can they get Jerry Sciarrio to redo this book Please.
"Good Story"
I have now listened to several of Alastair's books. I have enjoyed them all.
After every story, I have always looked and hoped for a sequel. There aren't any. Each book is a completely different tale in a different ("universe" basically).
I think this is a compliment to Alistair Reynolds and his imagination. He never rides the coattails of a trilogy or series. He always creates something new. These books are well thought out Science fiction.
I will buy all of his works on Audible. Give us more please.
"Please...?"
Ok, I loved the book. but...
I really like Paul Boehmer in Time Travelers. But this is a first person narration by a WOMAN, Chase Kolpath. Where is Jennifer Van Dyck?
Stick to the series narrator thoughout a series please!!?.
Worth listening, and I almost forgot the narrator, but I just couldn't forget.
I hope Jack writes more from both of these series, "Alex" and "Hutch". They are wonderful stories to take a break from reality with.
"a Review"
Ok, I don't like the vampire genre. This is not that.
I was frustrated after getting this book that it seemed like a vampire novel.
But,.. I could not put it down. The story and the characters are all worth the time invested.
I love the emotions and loyalty that surfaces out of the darkness of the story. I love the odd twists that the story takes. Yes, I am looking forward to the sequel.
I would hate to spend 2 credits on any book, but this is one credit well spent. The hours involved are well worth it.
This book is a journey. and one that should continue.
Even if you don't like Stephen King,.. I do, but then if you do like Robert Jordan, or Brandon Sanderson,.. you will like this. It is good!
"Quick, Witty and Fun"
Time Traveling has been played a lot; Maybe more than SciFi. This book is fun. So many new twists on what could you do with a time machine. I never stopped listening and still laughed with a satisfied smile as the last sentence of the book was read. A great ride with no disappointments. Never boring.
"Jordan and Sanderson"
Bravo!!!!
The fear that this story would never come to..., was only less than our wish that James would not pass on. Brandon has done so well... to carry on what Jordan wanted to say. All those who love the wheel of time will take joy in the seemless continuation toward the climax of this story. If you have come this far, It is good to know that we can finish it.
Thankyou to all who have brought this about.
"My Favorite"
If you liked the movie "Ground Hog Day", it was inspired by this book. This is the one person's life I have read about, that I would actually like to live. The story doesn't ever let you down; it is happy, sad, funny and depressing. It NEVER slows down and never has a boring minute.
Altough, I was at first skeptical of William Dufris narrating it (I have listened to several of his books), I quickly found that I forgot it was being read to me and just became involved with the experience of Replay. Dufris now sounds to me like the voice of Jeff Winston.
I was afraid this book wouldn't ever make it to Audio.
Bravo!
"Millenial Fun"
This book stays close to the true flow of the growth and fall of knowlege in society over many millenia. Every time man thinks he is great he falls flat on his face. This is a fun romp through time and the galaxy. It does venture into real physics but sticks to what a layman can understand. A who-dunnit with some reverence to what would life be like if?...
It is an enjoyable listen.
"More"
If you didn't like Mutiny, don't buy this one.
That said,
If you did like the first one, the story continues and gets better. Good pace, never boring. It has fun and funny characters, yet always belivable. These three books would have made a very fast paced 25 hour book. They are good enough to seem very short at 8 hours each.
And so,.. I am running back to download book 3.
