Alice begins her fantastic journey by following an unprecedented White Rabbit with a pocket watch. While in the topsy turvy world of Wonderland, Alice takes advice from a caterpillar and attends a mad tea party. She meets the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon, and participates in a ludicrous courtroom scene. Each character has its own charming voice, as B. J. Harrison delivers one of his most whimsical performances.

Twenty-eight florins a month is a huge price to pay for a man to stand between you and the Wild. Twenty-eight florins a month is nowhere near enough when a wyvern's jaws snap shut on your helmet in the hot stink of battle, and the beast starts to rip the head from your shoulders. But if standing and fighting is hard, leading a company of men - or worse, a company of mercenaries - against the smart, deadly creatures of the Wild is even harder. It takes all the advantages of birth, training, and the luck of the devil to do it.

The story was good but a lot of military ramblings that allowed my mind to wander. I like to know whats happening in the battle and how the characters set the scene but sometimes a little less is better.
And a lot of strong language, but I guess in a military camp there will be strong language. - - - I did keep wondering though 'Did they use that particular cuss word when the knights were around', then I'd think it's not actually earths timing but fantasy". As I said, This book did not keep my interest enough to keep my mind from wondering. It was like when you are cornered by someone at a gathering and they go on and on, and on and on, And you think "I really should pick up some milk on the way home"... And then they actually say something interesting or ask you a question, that's when you back the book up 30 seconds or so to hear what happened.
I gave it an overall 4 stars because although it's not my cup of tea, the main story itself was enjoyable (once you get past the babbling) and I'm sure there are some out there that would appreciate all that military babble.

Paolini did it again in Eldest. I wasn't crazy about the voice change for Saphira but I got used to it after a bit. I don't know why authors and editors don't insist on consistency with the narrators and allow them to change things mid stream. Its frustrating but I would buy the book again even knowing this.

Eldest continues with a great and complex plot and characters that readers care about. Book 2 is also kid friendly. I've already downloaded book 3.

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Eragon, son of a dragon rider is secretly taken to a small town and given to and raised by his uncle and aunt as their own son for his safety. Eragon's father disguised himself as a storyteller and moved to Carvahal to be near his son and secretly watch his son grow and inspire him with possibilities through stories.

While hunting Eragon found a beautiful rock, which turned out to be a dragon egg that hatched a couple of days later. Eragon names the hatchling Saphira and the adventure begins.

This is a fantastic story and one that can be enjoyed by all. There are no explicit sex scenes that really have nothing to do with the story or plot.

I agree that this book is poorly edited, the editors were obviously sleeping during this one, they allowed a lot of repeat sentences and such.

Jordan didn't make book 10 as action packed as the prior ones so most see it as boring. I agree CoT may not be the most interesting book of the series, however this book needs to be listened to as it sets up different things leading to the later books.

A lot of things happened that needs to be known for later books, some highlights are; Rands bond/marriage, shadow plots, the first-sister ritual of Elayne and Aviendha, the sister-wife trio, Mat's relationship with Tuon, Perrin and Faile victory at Emond's Field and marriage, and the Perrin chapters have a lot that sets things up for later on.

I just love a long well written book with lots of details to get a feeling of the surroundings, clothing, and body attitudes. This book definitely did not disappoint me. This is my second listen as I wanted to refresh my memory before listening the the last book of the series that just came out.

I bought this book when I was between books waiting for the next book of a series to come out. Just wanted something to hold me over. Lol – I still haven't read the last book I was waiting for.
It'll have to wait until I listen to this series again and finally get to listen to the last 14th book of the Wheel of Time. Yes, this series is that good. The characters are well developed and the world very believable.

It has a slow start but the foundation and character line up needs it for the listener to get a feel for their personalities, way of life, and to understand whats going on. Once the reader wraps their mind around whats in the first 3 hours of the book, the very beginning of the book starts to make sense of how it fits in . The listener starts feeling the bond between the three innocent childhood friends. The trio of male youths Rand, Mattrim, and Perrin, and the trio being intrigued into leaving Emond's Field of the Two Rivers, the isolated small town they grew up in. This starts their journey into magic, dark forces with malicious goals, secret societies, and rich fantasy.

A posthumous recipient of the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement, Marion Zimmer Bradley reinvented - and rejuvenated - the King Arthur mythos with her extraordinary Mists of Avalon series. In this epic work, Bradley follows the arc of the timeless tale from the perspective of its previously marginalized female characters: Celtic priestess Morgaine, Gwenhwyfar, and High Priestess Viviane.

A feminist view of the Arthurian Legend in the 5th-6th century. The biggest plus was the narrator who has a wonderful voice, perfect for this type of book. I thought the book was well enough written, but not great as some others claim. It's not really worthy of the 3 stars but also worth more than two stars.

The characters were hard for me to like, she portrayed them as sexually confused men full of self-importance, piousness and pride. The women are self-engrossed, prideful, and irritating to me. The story goes on and on to reveal a twisted plot and unrequited love.

If you like the Arthurian period remade with a feminist point of view it's well worth the 1 credit, especially since it's all four books of this series in one.

What made the experience of listening to Towers of Midnight the most enjoyable?

    Michael Kramer

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I still cringe when Kate Reading pronounces "Tam's" name as "Tom". Can't she read?

    Any additional comments?

This is a good series, however Sanderson closes nothing in this book, all loose ends. The story slowly crawls by, all interest is placed at the very end and every one of them is left open. This book was released in 2010 _ Wheres the last book so I can be done with this series.
