"Depression that dragged."
I understand this was about a very sad, life changing experience, but with nearly half the book completed, I still found it depressing and dragging. I was so down after listening each morning on my way to work that I finally had to stop mid book, and move to another more upbeat topic. I hope in the end, she finds ways to be happy again but I won't finish the book to find out.
"left waiting for the magic"
There is no magical thinking in this book. Of all of the many books I have read, this was the worst. I did not finish this one, though I gave a valiant effort so as not to be a quitter. I found it too cerebral to elicit emotion and too scatter-brained to make sense of the detail...all this rolled into one depressing story, of which I don't know (or care to know) the ending.
"One of the best..."
I finished this book just 2 hours ago and came straight in to search for another Binchy. I want these characters to be real and I want to know what happens next. I am praying for a sequel! One of the best books I have ever read.
