One of the bestselling novels of the 19th century, King Solomon's Mines has inspired dozens of adventure stories, including Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan books and the Indiana Jones movies. Vivid and enormously action-packed, Henry Rider Haggard's tale of danger and discovery continues to shock and thrill, as it has since it was first presented to the public and heralded as "the most amazing book ever written."

This was another book I had to stop listening to. A waste of time and money.
If this was truly the forerunner to other adventure stories, then that's why it seems so full of cliche's.
The great white god Englishman. Thinks nothing of killing 9 elephants in a day for the ivory. It bothers him slightly that 100+ men are executed but the next day they have to save the young girl who was to be sacrificed. That 100+ men (armed warriors) would allow themselves to be executed without protest makes no sense.

The hell called Yuma Prison can destroy the soul of any man. And it's worse for those whose damning crime is the color of their skin. The law says Chiricahua Apache Raymond San Carlos and black-as-night former soldier Harold Jackson are murderers, and they'll stay behind bars until they're dead and rotting. But even in the worst place on earth, there's hope....

This thing just droned on and on. I got about half way though and determined it was a waste of time to continue.
