There's no police training stronger than a cop's instinct. Faith Mitchell's mother isn't answering her phone. Her front door is open. There's a bloodstain above the knob. Her infant daughter is hidden in a shed behind the house. All that the Georgia Bureau of Investigations taught Faith Mitchell goes out the window when she charges into her mother's house, gun drawn. She sees a man dead in the laundry room. She sees a hostage situation in the bedroom. What she doesn't see is her mother.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I really miss Natalie Ross who narrated Undone and Broken (the two books before this one). I liked her (Ross's) voicings of the characters, especially Sarah, Amanda and Will. I hope she comes back to narrated Slaughter's upcoming book, Criminal.

What did you like best about this story?

When he was in BUD/S & when he dealt with the bullies in elementary school.

What aspect of Rorke Denver’s performance would you have changed?

He's a pit dead pan and would have liked to have seen more of his personality come through. The story might have been served better by a professional reader like Ray Porter. Loved his narration of Howard Wasdin's & Kevin Mitnick's books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The BUD/S hallucinations made me laugh.

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When he took down the drug dealer thinking he was an actor in a role-play scenario and when he moons his neighbor.

    Any additional comments?

Great pacing and I also liked that the book gives his wife Taya's perspective. Her POV gives insight into the sacrifices those left at home go through.

Charlie West just woke up in someone else's nightmare. He's strapped to a chair. He's covered in blood and bruises. He hurts all over. And a strange voice outside the door just ordered his death. The last thing he can remember is that he was a normal high-school kid doing normal things. How long ago was that? Where is he now? Who is he really?

I don't have a whole lot to add that the item description doesn't already say, but the story is a nail-biting adventure that keeps the listener on edge. Swanson's performance is excellent. Even though this series is considered YA, adults will love it to for the suspense and action.

Be careful what you wish for. Traveling abroad with her mother at the turn of the 20th century to seek a titled husband, beautiful, vivacious Cora Cash, whose family mansion in Newport dwarfs the Vanderbilts’, suddenly finds herself Duchess of Wareham, married to Ivo, the most eligible bachelor in England. Nothing is quite as it seems, however: Ivo is withdrawn and secretive, and the English social scene is full of traps and betrayals.

    Story

This is a story with a lot of unlikable characters and the ones like Teddy, Bertha and Cora who aren't unlikable are merely middling (I didn't come to care about them as much as I should have). Her eventual husband is a d-bag and the end seemed rushed. I don't want to spoil everything, but I was disappointed with Bertha's decision at the end. She was one of the more fleshed-out characters.

As far as the performance, I wanted to tear my eyeballs out listening to Kellegren doing the upper class British accents. The Americans were okay, but her English aristocrat was annoying as nails scraping a chalkboard.

Daisy Minor is bored. Worse than that, she's boring. A plain, small-town librarian, she's got a wardrobe as sexy as a dictionary and hasn't been on a date in years. She's never even had a lukewarm love affair, let alone a hot one. So when she wakes up on her 34th birthday and wonders how it is that she still lives with her widowed mom and spinster aunt while her friends have all gotten married and started families, she decides it's time to get a life - and a sex life.

I already like Linda Howard, but with this book, there are some down right LOL moments (literally)--wait til the condom box scene. Hee! Yes, there is the romance aspect, but it's also a thriller and suspense. It will keep you on your toes and you'll fall in love with the main characters (including the main woman's aunt and mom). You won't regret getting this book. I listened to it on audio (I like audiobooks while I run or do weights) and the narrator is wonderful. You won't regret giving this book a chance. If you like this one, check out her Medina series.

I guess I can also relate since I grew up in a small town. You'll love Daisy, Jack, Ev, aunt Jo, Todd, etc.

However, reading/hearing Adam's story will make you want to go out and do more with your life. There's also a nice interview with Eric at the end of the book.

Steeled in his resolve, Chad committed himself to completing the US military’s most difficult training to become a Navy SEAL - and avenge his friend’s death.

First, I'm not sure why reviewer Tim was surprised at the Christian aspect of this book since God is in the title. Anyway, It was interesting to see this guy go from professional skate boarder, and stoner to a SEAL. I wanted to cry over the sweet friendship/mentor/mentee relationship with Scott Helvenston (former SEAL and Blackwater contractor killed in Iraq). There were also funny parts from his childhood such as a bad run-in with a homemade 'rocket' made with a paper towel tube.

There's a lot of technical information such as he goes into detail about diving equipment, technique and firearms.

I didn't expect the narration of be A+ since this is narrated by the author, but it gives the audiobook a more personal feel.

Wonderful narration and fast-paced story. Despite all the 'controversy' of it giving secrets, that's just the Defense Dept making much ado about nothing. He goes into why he wanted to be a SEAL and all the hard work they do. His fellow SEALS are also charmingly portrayed. He also, rightfully, explains the reason he didn't go through traditional military channels before publishing is because he was afraid some higher-ups would want to change things to make themselves look better. He wanted his accounted to be as accurate as he could possibly make it.
