Listened to a lot of this driving from/back to London/Edinburgh. Long trip. Seemed much shorter with this.
The cast production is wonderful, story line good. I never read the book before, and experience with author was Good Omens.
Highly recommend. Good tale about the lives/problems of gods and the poor souls who encounter them.
I got a bit put off when I thought it was a novel and not a true story, but this is a technicality. Author took a few liberties with dates, places, etc... but it is her story. It was very well done. Riches->rags->climb back up again.
Truly epic achievement. Wonderful narration, excellent plot, nothing not to like. This author rivals Christopher Moore as one of my SF favourites.
The voice was a little grating at first, but I got used to it.
It was worth it. Very engaging story, haven't heard another like it.
You've already listened to the first three, just get it.
Yes the narration is inexplicably worse. Yes, the plot line drags on, and involves a lot of minor characters. But it is still good.
I listened then got the fifth one, which seems to pick up again.
A book about writing a book that has no plot...... but it works very well. Thoroughly engrossing history with a compelling story line. It has a bonus section at the end with a good author interview.
Nothing wrong with the performance, I just reserve 5 for truly stellar narration.
Against expectations, this book was really good, and not hard to listen to. The author and narrator capture the character nicely.
Kids with cancer is a tough subject matter, but the book is really about their lives. It was very good, and not depressing.
Absolutely. Felt like I was in Appalachia. A Bill Bryson trip gone terribly wrong.
There were several. This was a stay in the car a little while longer book.
Great accent, pacing.
Not that kind of book. I'd be worried about people moved by this book.
Characters and plot very shallow. Like a first draft from a new writer.
Sigh. (Once you've listened to a sample, you'll get it).
First book in a long while from audible that I didn't like.
Loved it. He manages to make a funeral train with numerous stops interesting. Both books are fascinating, very well narrated history.
