Josh Kowalski is tired of holding down the fort - better known as the Northern Star Lodge - while his siblings are off living their dreams. Now that his oldest brother has returned to Whitford, Maine for good, Josh is free to chase some dreams of his own. As the daughter of the lodge's longtime housekeeper, Katie Davis grew up alongside the Kowalski kids. Though she's always been "one of the guys", her feelings for Josh are anything but sisterly. And after a hot late-night encounter in the kitchen, it's clear Josh finally sees her as the woman she is.

Where does All He Ever Dreamed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is like a cozy blanket. A nice romance that tugs your heart in a few directions. It's nothing more or less than it is meant to be.

Josh Kowalski is tired of holding down the fort - better known as the Northern Star Lodge - while his siblings are off living their dreams. Now that his oldest brother has returned to Whitford, Maine, for good, Josh is free to chase some dreams of his own.

Katie's been waiting years for Josh to notice her, but now that he has, she's afraid it's too late. Giving her heart to a man who can't wait to leave town is one sure way to have it broken. But Josh keeps coming up with excuses not to leave - could it be that everything he's ever wanted is closer than he could have imagined?

What was one of the most memorable moments of All He Ever Dreamed?

The push and pull as the family decides to do with the lodge. The ending is fantastic.

Adam Dearborn has just been adopted into the Grayson family when he comes upon two boys huddled inside his sister’s warm greenhouse. Adam had hoped to have time alone with his sweetheart, Rebecca, but December snow is falling hard and the poorly clothed, hungry boys need his help. Adam takes them home never expecting the arrangement could become permanent. Being an only son is not a position Adam wants to give up, not does he want to share Rebecca’s affection with the older boy.

Would you be willing to try another book from Wendy Lindstrom? Why or why not?

Yes, I really enjoy the Grayson Brothers series. I've actually started listening to Leave it for the Rain... Wendy Lindstrom cannot write these fast enough for me.

However, this novella was a bit different than the rest of the series. I think that is because the story is told from YOUNG Adam's perspective. There are insecurities of school, trouble making, being 'replaced' in the family by another boy.

This book isn't necessary to the series but it is a sweet story with a good message.

NOTES: No worries about listening with the kiddos in the room or car.
Credit Worthy: Depends on your dedication to the series. It is expensive for a 3 hour listen, I held off for that reason but finally gave in.

What made the experience of listening to Echoes of Scotland Street the most enjoyable?

The narration of Elle Newsland. Great Scottish accent and easily switched to an American accent when performing Joss.

Have you listened to any of Elle Newlands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she narrated Down London Road (Book 2 in the series) which was just as good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, I cannot get enough from the On Dublin Road series. It was great to find out what has been going on with the crew. Brooding Cole is all grown up and covered with tattoos.

As Shannon opens up in the face of Cole's steady devotion, the passion between them ignites to blazing levels. But when Shannon's past comes back to haunt her, her fears may destroy the trust Cole has built between them - and tear them apart for good.…

When reserved flight attendant Bianca gets one look at billionaire hotel owner James Cavendish, she loses all of her hard-won composure. For a girl who can easily juggle a tray of champagne flutes at 35,000 feet in three inch heels, she finds herself shockingly weak-kneed from their first encounter. The normally unruffled Bianca can't seem to look away from his electrifying turquoise gaze. They hold a challenge, and a promise, that she finds impossible to resist, and she is a girl who is used to saying no and meaning it.

What did you like best about In Flight? What did you like least?

Best: I liked the book...fantasy (not PNR fantasy.) It was well written and a blend of humor, romance, over the top - this could never happen but its fun to imagine it could.

Least: Story line of billionaire, dominant is getting tiresome for ME. That is not to take anything away from this book. It is a great book with enough originality to not be a cookie cutter 'billionaire' story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It is a cliffhanger...there is no completion, so know that you'll be tempted to buy the next two.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator was average to better than average in the female character roles. The male characters left a bit to be a desired.

Do you think In Flight needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It is the first of 3 books...so it has a follow-up book. I don't think I'll invest in the next two because I'm tired of this type of story.

What did you like best about The Color Purple? What did you like least?

Unfortunately I saw the movie first but on the other hand, if I read the book I would not have watched the movie. The book was interesting but having seen the movie I was already bit biased in my characters in the book.

I didn't understand the why the language needed to be so crass in the first few chapters. It did not add to the book at all and I'm not one to be easily offended by curse words and strong language. This really bothered me and I almost stopped listening.

I think that had I not seen the movie I would've been totally lost in this book because it jumped around a bit.

While this is a story of how slave mentality affected women differently and the sacrifice & bond between sisters, I don't understand the fascination that surrounds the book. It was solid and the events were descriptive. However, I did not feel in any way that it was a five star read nor creditworthy.

Save your credit, watch the movie

Sure, but I'm not an editor/author so take this with a grain of salt. I was waiting, waiting, waiting for something to happen...there was no mystery, adventure, seduction. The publisher's summary calls it 'exciting' - I didn't hear it.

If you cut the intimate scenes it was a book about animals - a humane society, helicopter pilot and a cast of many characters. Perhaps the author was setting the table for future books in the series.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Right now I'm listening to Mastered by Lorelei James. After that I'm going for a counter terrorism or some other sort of military thriller.

What aspect of Karen White’s performance would you have changed?

She was average, not bad not distinguished. The script required her to make animal sounds - not something that makes an adult book seriously.

Would you try another book from Brad Thor and/or George Guidall?

I LOVE George Guidall's performance. He has the gravely voice one would expect these SEAL (former) to have.

I'm REALLY trying to like Brad Thor & Scott Harvath but it is hard. I miss the man and mastery of Vince Flynn. I also am so attached to Mitch Rapp. After two books Thor is not rising to that high, high bar.

As with Foreign Influence there were a lot of characters and things got confusing. The storyline got me confused and I felt like I was trying to catch up or sort things out. By the time I got a grasp on it the story had moved along and the cycle repeated.

Thor has his fans who give him 5*s and the detractors who rate him with 1*. I'm still on the fence. If you like him, he's credit worthy, for me I'm reserving judgement.

I think a great book stands alone even if it is part of a series. The 2 I've read thus far do not. I will try again starting with book 1, maybe a fresh start at the beginning of the series will help me (the premise and plot are intriguing.)

Is there anything you would change about this book?

My initial thoughts on this book was that it was very nice, sweet romance with very little drama and no erotic scenes. Before writing this review, I reading other reviews (mistake, I'll not make again) that left me with a different perspective.

The book beginning was intense and heart wrenching. The middle went from a couple eyeball roll scenes to a predictable and boring journey.I believe this could have easily been a solid 4* book had A.L. Jackson invested a bit more intensity and realism.

There was little resistance from Elizabeth to Christian after he left her when she became pregnant. Perhaps if the heroine were stronger...if I say more I'll spoil, and I don't want to give anything away.

I enjoyed this book as it was feel good and tugged at the heart a bit (even my cold, black heart.) It is more Chic Lit after the first few chapters. Take this Regret is the 1st in at least a 4 book series. Currently only 0.5, 1 & 4 are available here at Audible.

As with a lot of the [new to me random authors] books I pick up, this was a promotion/sale purchase. I don't 'regret' it (ha ha) and if 2 became available I might give it a go. But I have A LOT more to get through before I go looking for more books.

Purchase Worthy: Not unless on sale

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Since his death I have been looking for an author whose work measures up to the Master Vince Flynn. Brad Thor is everywhere many friends and reviews have said his work is fantastic. I felt like I was always a few steps behind the characters and there were so many characters to meet.

The plot was complex and I didn't realize this was part of a 13 book series until after I got about 1/2 way through.

Other authors have the ability to write a series in which you can pick up any book in a series and read it and it stands alone. For me, this was not the case for -stand alone book- for the above reasons. However, I think if I start at the beginning the series it may get me hooked (including this book.)

I'm giving Thor another go-this was an error on my part, starting a book that is in the middle of the series-but a great book should stand alone even as part of a series. I was overwhelmed the feeling I should have been familiar with many of the characters. On top of that there were several intense situations, Foreign Influence was confusing.

Buy or not buy? Credit or no? I wouldn't buy it or use a credit. I must have picked it up for a steal, BOGO, 3 books 2 credit or I would not have bought out of order. I have already picked up the 1st book in the series. Here's hoping.......

    Publisher's Summary

Navy SEAL turned covert operative Scot Harvath is called to action once again in Brad Thor's hottest political thriller yet.

Buried within the black ops budgets of the Department of Defense, a new spy agency has been created. Unfettered by the oversight of self-serving politicians, it reports only to a secret panel of military insiders. Its job is to target Americas enemies - both foreign and domestic - under a charter of three simple words: Find, Fix, and Finish.

Recruited as a field operative, Scot Harvath has just returned from his first assignment abroad when a bombing in Rome kills a group of American college students. The evidence points to a dangerous colleague from Harvath's past and a plan for further attacks on an unimaginable scale.

Harvath is tasked with leveraging his relationship to lure the man out of hiding and kill him on the spot. But what if it is the wrong man?

Simultaneously, a young woman is struck by a taxi in a hit-and-run in Chicago. With only two intoxicated witnesses and over 5,000 cabs in the city, the Chicago Police have given up on their investigation. But when the family's attorney digs deeper, he will uncover a shocking connection to the bombing in Rome and the perpetrator's plans for America.

As the story rockets to its conclusion, the plots intersect in a race to prevent one of the most audacious and unthinkable acts of war in the history of mankind.

Take another thrill ride with Scot Harvath.

As soon they are released, Amanda Quick’s romances shoot to the top of best seller lists. With over 22 million copies of her books in print, she is one of today’s hottest authors. Set in Regency-era England, Mischief offers a sparkling mixture of wit and intrigue that has become Quick’s trademark. Beautiful, headstrong Imogen Waterstone has recruited the darkly infamous Earl of Colchester to help her seek revenge for the murder of her best friend. As they set a trap for the villain, Imogen and Colchester fearlessly encounter the threats and dangers that come their way.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Amanda Quick has many fans and this is my first try. I was bored. It took many a night to get through the first few chapters, as I kept falling asleep.

The elements for a good story, but it was as if the author skimmed the surface. I continued to give the author a chance but this particular book didn't grab me at any point.

Historical buffs may enjoy this light work. But I found the plot not complicated. I'd like something deeper, sexier, more action, etc.

I got this on sale and would not recommend buying or using a credit - even if you are an Amanda Quick fan. Wait for a sale.

NOTE: No disclaimers for this one. Pop it in with the kids around, its that 'safe.'
