Known for making up his own rules of right and wrong, Texas Ranger Sam "Wildcard" MacGregor takes what he wants when he wants it, especially when it comes to women. But seduction is the last thing on his mind the moment he stumbles across an Hispanic beauty crouching in fear beside a burned-out wagon.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sam's Creed?

    There were many, Bella's 'innocence'.

What about Jason Adams’s performance did you like?

    Great, strong, gravely voice!

    Any additional comments?

Adult themes, loosely 'historical' references (something I don't care for but did not bother me in this series). I really liked this book.

What other book might you compare Winter Wonderland (A Romantic Short Story) to and why?

This is a 20 minute listen that left me wanting more, in a good way! It is basically 2 events... I want to know what lead Melissa & Jack to this point. Who are they? How did they meet? Any adventures that drew them together or pushed them apart?

Likewise, I want to know what is next for them? Will they get av HEA?

Mindy Wilde could add to this short story and make a full length novel. Everything is there; the writing is great, the descriptions vivid, etc.

What about Lia Langola’s performance did you like?

Lia Langola's performance was believable. While there were only two characters, Jack & Melissa, she did both very well. It is always a surprise to hear a woman portray a masculine character without overdoing it. (Or a male performer portraying a female lead without a lisp.)

Lia Langola did each character extremely well. I hope to hear more from her...perhaps a full length version of Winter Wonderland.

    Any additional comments?

    NOTE: Mature themes

Credit/$ Worthy: I do not buy or use credits on anything less than 6 hours long. However, *I was given a copy of this in exchange for my thoughts and review.* I WILL be looking for lengthier books by Mindy Wilde and Lia Langola.

It seemed ideal - two months at a charming writers' retreat, surrounded by kindred souls. But Bettina Boothe wasn't prepared for just how long eight weeks truly was. Or that in the process, she would have to open up and reveal the most secret places in her body and soul. Fortunately, her fellow authors do not share Bettina's self-consciousness and begin to draw her out of her self-imposed shell....

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. If you want scene after scene of graphic sex then this is the book for you.

There was a skimpy plot line but not enough to make me happy. I need to hear some sort of plot that runs through the story and it was not there for me. This flimsy one was not enough and perhaps I was turned off by the pairings as everyone seem to sleep with everyone.

In my opinion, if you want something that is raunchy and very, very graphic (tasteless porn), this may be the book for you. For me it was actually too much & you can see from other titles I've listened to, I'm no shrinking violet.

The narrator did a good job as she had to do both male and female voice.

Meet Jane and Austen. First there's Jane - an impractical, starry-eyed wedding planner; if love can't match what she's read in a book, she doesn't want it. And then there's Austen - a pragmatic, logical-to-a-fault financial consultant; even if he were interested in someone, he wouldn't know. The two have one thing in common: they can't leave each other alone.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

To younger friends or family. It brings Jane Austen's work in a contemporary setting. It is a clever play on words and develops points in [the real] Jane Austen books.

I rolled my eyes at the first part until I realized and Stephanie Powers was NOT trying to rewrite or knock off Jane Austen's originals. It was when I discovered the comparisons and characters referring to JA's original work that I began to see the appeal and cleverness that would draw the Young Adult' audience.

It would be interesting for Jr. High and High School students who are required to read J. Austen to read this book as they rad the classics.

What about Andrea Emmes’s performance did you like?

Andrea Eamme's performance was spot on. She was required to perform male and female as well as English and American accents. The characters sounded age appropriate as well.

    Any additional comments?

This would not have been my usual pick as it really was written toward a younger audience (YA.) *I was offered this free copy in exchange for my thoughts and review.*

This was a sweet, clean romance though somewhat juvenile for my normal listening. However, I think it was well performed and will appeal to the younger dynamic.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Celestial Conversations?

This categorized as a Religion/Spiritual book, WAY outside my normal genre and would not have chosen it on my own. However, *I was offered a copy in exchange for my thoughts in review.*

This was an interesting listen. While I do not believe in many of the methods that the author does -such as vibrations, astrology, reincarnation, etc., she is able to eloquently describe how they apply to HER methodology.

Lo Ann Mayer explains her experience from her mother's death to opening and keeping a journal with questions directly to her. The first entry to her mother was answered by Mayer's own hand, however she is 'out of body' as she records what is coming through her mind. Only after the thoughts are recorded is Mayer able to come back and read her mother's reply. (It is not as complicated as I am making it sound.)

Mayer shares how these experiences continue and prepare her for emotional trials on earth and reveals her loved ones thoughts of the afterlife.

Whether a believer in eastern religions, or not, this book explores those and traditional western religions (I believe the author calls herself a Catholic) in a way that is caring and not offensive.

What three words best describe Pam Dougherty’s performance?

I have not listened to Pam Dougherty before. I found her narration/performance VERY slow. I listened on a faster speed and it was much better. I'd have fallen asleep if I had listened at the regular speed - no judgement, just fact.

What made the experience of listening to Attachments the most enjoyable?

This book was SO MUCH fun. In this day of no privacy due to hackers & nefarious, evil doers - this accidental, email eavesdropper's (Lincoln) thoughts about his job and co-workers kept me in giggles.

However, there was enough seriousness to make the book multi dimensional. I liked it and will listen again when I need a lift!

    Publisher's Summary

Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder, coworkers at The Courier, know the newspaper monitors their office e-mail. But they still spend all day sending each other messages, gossiping about their coworkers, and baring their personal lives like an open book. Jennifer tells Beth everything she can’t seem to tell her husband about her anxieties over starting a family. And Beth tells Jennifer everything, period.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill still can’t believe that it’s his job to monitor other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be an Internet security officer, he pictured himself protecting the newspaper from dangerous hackers - not sending out memos every time somebody in Accounting forwarded an off-color joke to the person in the next cubicle. Lincoln is supposed to turn people in for misusing company e-mail, but he can’t quite bring himself to crack down on Beth and Jennifer. He can’t help being entertained - and captivated - by their stories. But by the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late for him to ever introduce himself. What would he say to her? “Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you?”

With snapping dialogue and irresistible charm, Rainbow Rowell transforms an ordinary IT guy into a lovable and endearing romantic hero and proves that falling in love never happens the way you plan it. Written with whip-smart precision and charm, Attachments is a fresh and energetic debut that marks the arrival of an exciting new voice in fiction.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lincoln, of course...he's just doing his job.

What would have made A Cedar Cove Christmas better?

This was an attempt of modernizing the Greatest Story Ever Told (Jesus' birth) - it begins with a single, very pregnant, young woman - Mary Jo Wyse...I WILL give kudos to Debbie Macomer for not trying to recreate the Immaculate Conception, but....

Mary Jo takes off from the family home to look for the father of her unborn babe. His family lives in Cedar Cove but he can't be found nor can any of his family.

She rolls into town and feels faint at the library. The fire department and the young, handsome, single fireman/EMT comes and helps her through her swoon.

A bunch of strangers offered to help the pregnant woman and she is amazed by their goodness and benevolence. One of them has an apartment above her barn and offers it to her for the night (because all the Inns and B & B's are full.) It just so happens there's a bunch of animals; mule, sheep, horse, A CAMEL, etc. (a camel in Washington State in December at an individuals residence, come on, now!) hanging out in that barn-from the live Nativity the preceding weeks.

Mrs. Macomber tries to make analogies throughout to the real Christmas story, but it's really cheesy. Mary Jo has three brothers (whose business is 3 Wyseman Builders) who frantically look for her in Cedar Cove-an island, etc.

Anything else I say will give away and spoil, if you are a diehard Debbie Macomber fan, you may like this.

For me its a miss...I'll stick to the original

So Grace Harding brings Mary Jo home to her nearby ranch. She and her husband, Cliff, have a houseful of guests, but they offer her a room over their stable (currently sheltering the animals - including a donkey and a camel - for Cedar Cove's Nativity pageant!).

When Mary Jo goes into labor that night, a young man named Mack McAfee, a paramedic, comes to her rescue, just as her brothers - the three Wyse men - show up in town. The people of Cedar Cove join them in celebrating the birth of baby Noel. But no one has more to celebrate than Mack. Because this Christmas brings him faith, hope and love...

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something heavy and meaningful - maybe a Marc Cameron book

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sandra Burr?

    The narrator matched the material.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

It was SO cheesy...is that a reaction? Eyeball rolling, disappointment.

    Any additional comments?

I really do not mean to be such a downer on Debbie Macomer. I really enjoyed the first book that I read "16 Lighthouse Road"n - it was catchy, romantic and clever.

I picked up 3-4 other titles as they were on sale, as I listen I've determined I'm not a fan.

Macomer has a lot of fans and I'm not sure why I don't warm up to her material as so many seem to. Perhaps it's a generational difference. As I said, I really enjoyed the first book that I read but the others after that have fallen flat. That is not to say she is bad most reviews are to the contrary of mine.

Would you be willing to try another book from Wendy Lindstrom? Why or why not?

Yes, I really enjoy the Grayson Brothers series. I've actually started listening to Leave it for the Rain... Wendy Lindstrom cannot write these fast enough for me.

However, this novella was a bit different than the rest of the series. I think that is because the story is told from YOUNG Adam's perspective. There are insecurities of school, trouble making, being 'replaced' in the family by another boy.

This book isn't necessary to the series but it is a sweet story with a good message.

The narration of Elle Newsland. Great Scottish accent and easily switched to an American accent when performing Joss.

Have you listened to any of Elle Newlands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she narrated Down London Road (Book 2 in the series) which was just as good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, I cannot get enough from the On Dublin Road series. It was great to find out what has been going on with the crew. Brooding Cole is all grown up and covered with tattoos.

What did you like best about In Flight? What did you like least?

Best: I liked the book...fantasy (not PNR fantasy.) It was well written and a blend of humor, romance, over the top - this could never happen but its fun to imagine it could.

Least: Story line of billionaire, dominant is getting tiresome for ME. That is not to take anything away from this book. It is a great book with enough originality to not be a cookie cutter 'billionaire' story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It is a cliffhanger...there is no completion, so know that you'll be tempted to buy the next two.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator was average to better than average in the female character roles. The male characters left a bit to be a desired.

Do you think In Flight needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It is the first of 3 books...so it has a follow-up book. I don't think I'll invest in the next two because I'm tired of this type of story.
