Edgy, Hot & Sexy
The opening scenes are pretty violent and NOT for the faint of heart. However, the first meeting of Seth, Tyler & Allison at Seth's house AFTER sets the tempo for the rest of the book. This book is one of the most intriguing and stimulating I've read.
Lawyer Allison English never planned to return to The Den - despite her naughty fantasies about being bound by owner Seth Matthews. But when club guest Tyler Wysong is injured in a scene, Seth turns to Allie for help. Aroused by both men, Allie should turn the case down. But she can't....
After his bad experience, Tyler has no interest in being with another dom. Yet he can't deny his attraction to Master Seth. When Seth offers him a place to stay, Tyler agrees - if Allie will stay, too. But what good is a chaperone who adds to his temptation?
Living with two subs brings out Seth's protective instincts, though Allie insists she's not into the lifestyle, and Tyler swears he's done with it. But the chemistry between the trio prompts them to agree to submit to him for one week, and he'll show them both the true pleasure that a dom can provide.
The intimacy could break them all, or bind them together forever....

She does a great job and brings reality to the book through her narration. She gives each character their own, individual voice.
This contains explicit scenes with mature themes. There is both M/F, M/M & M/M/F intimacy.
Strong language & violent descriptions.
It begins with a birth in an African village in 1750, and ends two centuries later at a funeral in Arkansas. And in that time span, an unforgettable cast of men, women, and children come to life, many of them based on the people from Alex Haley's own family tree.
When Alex was a boy growing up in Tennessee, his grandmother used to tell him stories about their family, stories that went way back to a man she called the African who was taken aboard a slave ship bound for Colonial America.
As an adult, Alex spent 12 years searching for documentation that might authenticate what his grandmother had told him. In an astonishing feat of genealogical detective work, he discovered the name of the "African" - Kunta Kinte - as well as the exact location of the village in West Africa from where he was abducted in 1767.
Roots is based on the facts of his ancestry, and the six generations of people - slaves and freedmen, farmers and lawyers, an architect, teacher, and one acclaimed author - descended from Kunta Kinte.
I cannot think of anything that is as well documented and personal as Alex Haley's Roots.
He is a fantastic narrator. A smooth, warm sound with distinctive voice for each character male, female, black, white, young and old. Perfection...
No, over 30 hours long-this is very detailed and it is very important to pay close attention. It is heavy 'listening'.
This is a very descriptive, vibrant story. It is history 'come alive' - the good, bad and the ugly... a portrayal of Alex Haley's unique story of his family's history.
Highly recommend for any student of history.
Hot, Sexy, Steamy
For those who like their books raunchy...
Goody-two boots AJ Foster has waited her entire life for Cord McKay to see her as more than a girl in pigtails. Now that she's old enough, she's pulling out all the sexual stops and riding hell-bent for leather straight for his libido. Divorced rancher Cord has sworn off women until innocent AJ suggests he teach her how to ride bareback and he realizes she doesn't mean horses or bulls. Busy with the responsibilities of running a ranch and riding herd on his rambunctious family, Cord agrees to take AJ up on her offer on a trial basis.
These McKay boys are naughty and I love it!
STRONG language - sexual situations
One lucky woman…three sexy cowboys…she's in for the ride of her life!
Channing Kinkaid itches for a change; a wild western adventure with an untamed man. Determined to shed her inhibitions and embrace the steamier, seamier side of life, she sets her sights on hooking up with a real chaps-and-spurs-wearing cowboy. Enter Colby McKay - bull rider, saddle bronc buster and calf roper. From the moment he sets lust-filled eyes on the sweet and fiery Channing, he knows he's found the woman who's up to the challenge of cutting loose. What rough and rowdy cowboy could resist a no-holds-barred sexual romp with a sassy young thing starring as his personal buckle bunny?
Intrigued by Channing's bold proposition of horsing around on the road, Colby impulsively sweetens the deal; sexual escapades not only in his bed, but in the bedrolls of his rodeo traveling partners, Trevor and Edgard. Although Channing's secretly longed to be the sole focus of more than one man's passions, Colby's demand for complete submission behind closed doors will test her willful nature. Can Channing give up total control? Especially when not all is as it seems with the sexy trio? Or will the cowboys have to break out the bullropes and piggin' string to break in this headstrong filly?
It would have been PERFECT if there were a more complicated back story - however, this is a superficial, cowboy, fantasy that delivers just that. As it was it was very enjoyable.
She is sort of robotic (with a western accent), but she was able to differentiate between the characters.
Yep! Cannot wait to get the rest of the series.
Not for the faint of heart or the typical romance reader. This is down and dirty and nothing is held back or left to the imagination.
STRONG language and MATURE themes
I love this series and would love it more if the stories were deeper. However, it is not...each book has some cowboy/ranch stuff but the series is mostly superficial, gritty, romance and sex. The details don't always match up but, who cares? Not me...it is my guilty pleasure!
The most interesting is the cowboy artist, Carter. I don't think I've ever come across that mix.
The 'least interesting' - it is difficult to keep all the brothers straight as they all have names that start with 'C'.
She is o.k. - but as I'm listening to them back to back I realize she doesn't have much range.
Workin' up a hot, sticky sweat is pure pleasure with a hard-ridin' cowboy or two. Struggling stock contractor Gemma Jansen swallows her pride and tracks down circuit rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Cash agrees on one condition: Theirs wont be strictly a working relationship. She's the boss during the day, but once she's corralled in the bedroom, Cash calls the shots. Despite concerns about their age difference, Gemma consents. Cash suspects the sexy widow hides an untapped wild streak. He intends to loosen her tightly held reins of control, even if he has to break out his horsewhip to do it. But Cash is in for a surprise. Gemma proves a rough-and-ready participant in any leather-'n'-lace game Cash dreams up.
Between riding herd on his wayward daughter, Macie, and rowdy cowboy Carter McKay doggin Macie's every boot step, Cash struggles to hide his true feelings for Gemma. Except this time, Gemmas grabbed the bull by the horns and shes playing for keeps. Summers going to be a hot one at the Bar 9.
NOTE: Adult themes and language....NOT a sweet romance.
Eventually...I think the 'shock value' and intrigue of this book may have diminished some since I've listened to many in this style since my first listen.
A deliciously potent tale of one woman’s quest for self-discovery.
Rowan Cassidy likes to be in charge - especially in her personal life. As a mistress at Club Privé, the most exclusive bondage/S & M club on the West Coast, Rowan can live out her dominant fantasies safely, and with complete control - until the night Christian Thorne walks in. Self-confident and sophisticated, he’s a natural dominant if Rowan’s ever seen one. Yet she can’t stop thinking about him and imagining his touch.

He’s dying to get his skilled hands on her and watch her surrender, to unlock the mystery of her that captivates him. Determined to be her master, he makes Rowan a daring proposition: give herself over to him for 30 days.
Rowan finds Christian’s offer terrifying - and impossible to resist. But abandoning herself to Christian’s power might be more than she can handle.... Or it might be the realization of her true nature and the dark garden within her. There will be only one way to find out. And once the game has begun, there’s no turning back.
Yes, but it took several sessions.
More than anything else, cable TV reporter Andrea Malone wanted a network job. And it could be hers if she gained a coveted interview with the aging General Ratiff - especially if she uncovered the secret that drove him into seclusion at his Texas ranch.
One obstacle was Lyon Ratiff, the general's watchdog of a son. Andrea had a plan, but had no way of knowing how Lyon's unexpected, undeniable effect on her would change everything, how they both would face a storm of suspicion and betrayal - and how Andrea Malone would have to choose between the ruthless demands of her profession and the equally strong dictates of the heart.

Sandra Brow opens with a disclaimer - it is one of her early works and parts are dated.
Behavior between men and women was much different in the late 1980's than today. One must keep this in mind as you listen. Gender roles and expectations were different. I found it accurate for the time period and it was enjoyable - nothing spectacular but I have read much worse!
Creditworthy? To me it is not 'credit worthy' but for a Sandra Brown fan who can catch it on a sale (like I did) I say get it.
This is a great collection of stories by ordinary Americans from all walks of life. A bunch of stories that you might hear around the fireplace or dinner table.
Drawn from the work of StoryCorps, the largest and most ambitious private oral history project in American history, comes this tapestry of the stories Americans have been sharing from their lives to leave behind to their loved ones.
Enjoyable and moving...a Thanksgiving gift from Audible. Thank you.
I'm very mixed on this book. It was set in a historical time, but most of the time I forgot that (except for the m' lords and m' ladies).
The premise/plot was a good mystery however there were a lot of graphic sex scenes as well.
It was enjoyable, I just felt confused a lot of the time - as to what era I was in.
Yes, there were not a lot of main characters-and each had their own voice.
I liked it - so for me, yes.
Not quite a wife...
After a disastrous wedding night, proper Lady Helena Harteford fears for the fate of her new marriage. Disguised as a doxy, she tracks her husband down at a bawdy house to reason with him...and instead discovers the thrill of forbidden passion. An innocent ruse turns into a risky deception; how far will this once-wallflower go to win her husband's love?
Unfit to be a husband...
Orphaned at an early age, Nicholas Morgan escapes his violent beginnings to become a successful merchant - only to discover that he is the legitimate heir of the Marquess of Harteford. His transition to the ton is rocky and made rockier when he marries above him. Torn between guilt and lust, he tries to protect his sweet, innocent wife from the demons of his past. But can he safeguard her from his own raging desires?
Caught between past and present...
When a dangerous nemesis rises from Nicholas' past, husband and wife must work together in order to survive. From the drawing rooms to the stews of Regency London, they find themselves caught in a game of passion and seduction. Will true love prevail? Or is Helena destined to remain...Her Husband's Harlot?
For the true historical romance fan they may have issues with the contemporary language and/or the lack of 'real' history.
I may pick up the next book in the series but not for a while.
NOTE: Strong language and graphic sexual content.
Sure, I enjoyed it. It was not a 'heavy' read or intellectual challenge. I listened at 1.5 speed because the narrator was slow - or maybe the story was slow. It was only 6 hours long but it felt longer.
Chloe Peterson is having a bad night. A really bad night. The large bruise on her cheek can attest to that. And when her car skids off the side of a wet country road straight into a ditch, she's convinced even the gorgeous guy who rescues her in the middle of the rain storm must be too good to be true. Or is he?
As a successful photographer who frequently travels around the world, Chase Sullivan has his pick of beautiful women, and whenever he's home in San Francisco, one of his seven siblings is usually up for causing a little fun trouble. Chase thinks his life is great just as it is - until the night he finds Chloe and her totaled car on the side of the road in Napa Valley. Not only has he never met anyone so lovely, both inside and out, but he quickly realizes she has much bigger problems than her damaged car. Soon, he is willing to move mountains to love-and protect-her, but will she let him?
Chloe vows never to make the mistake of trusting a man again. Only, with every loving look Chase gives her - and every sinfully sweet caress - as the attraction between them sparks and sizzles, she can't help but wonder if she's met the only exception. And although Chase didn't realize his life was going to change forever in an instant, amazingly, he isn't the least bit interested in fighting that change. Instead, he's gearing up for a different fight altogether - for Chloe's heart.
I was not surprised by the ending.
Smooth and nice (I know, and is not a descriptive word.)
Sure, there are 6 or 7 siblings and I think there are books for the others. It's a sweet (with naughty bits) series.
The publisher has this "NOTE: Explicit language, very steamy sex scenes...and lots of emotion!"
I'll pick up the others IF they go on sale-under $6...I wouldn't use credits based on this first try.
No and yes - I bought it, knowing by the description - that it is not a genre that interests me. Yes, as I am a fan of the series and Lynda Aicher and it was good to 'catch up' with characters from past books in the Wicked Series.
He did a good job - but as with a lot of male narrators - the female characters sound like effeminate males.
I'm not a reader of gay erotica but gave it a read because of the series/author.
It's been 20 years since Rockford Fielding's father punished him for kissing another boy. Now a grown man with a military career behind him, Rock continues to deny his true desires, even while working security at The Den, the most decadent sex club in town. But after a year of watching gorgeous Carter Montgomery come and go on the arms of other men, Rock can no longer resist the cravings he's denied for so long.
Carter has just four months left on his contract with an escort agency, and he doesn't know whether to feel relieved or afraid. Being an escort is all he knows. Adding to his confusion is the way his latest client, the sexy but stoic Rock, makes him feel things he hasn't wanted in years.
One charmingly awkward date turns into two and soon the men are meeting off the clock. But with Rock in the closet and Carter unsure how to pursue a real relationship, how can they build a future both in and out of the bedroom?
Credit worthy? Yes, if you are invested in the series. I would not have purchased it as a stand alone book.
NOTE: Strong language and descriptions of sex.
