  • Why Are You Atheists So Angry?: 99 Things That Piss Off the Godless

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs)
    • By Greta Christina
    • Narrated By Greta Christina
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why are atheists angry? Is it because they're selfish, joyless, lacking in meaning, and alienated from God? Or is it because they have legitimate reasons to be angry - and are ready to do something about it? Armed with passionate outrage, absurdist humor, and calm intelligence, popular blogger Greta Christina makes a powerful case for outspoken atheist activism, and explains the empathy and justice that drive it. This accessible, personal, down-to-earth book speaks not only to atheists, but also to believers who want to understand the so-called new atheism.

""Anger" Is Not An Excuse to Buy This Book"
What disappointed you about Why Are You Atheists So Angry??

Evidently, this audio book is one long list of things that Greta is angry about. I too am an atheist, but I'm not angry or even sorry. Sure, I am tired of Christians (theists) flaunting their religion in my face and I too am tired of seeing the cross displayed as a piece of jewelry (this was an instrument used for torture and death, if not performed on Jesus then it was most certainly inflicted on countless others), however, it doesn't make me angry, just sad. I am sad that so many people claim to follow a man known only as Jesus, a man that nobody can prove even existed, and yet these same people can vanquish all other non-believers to eternal hell and torment while they, in turn, will enjoy every imaginable luxury in heaven. How dare they. However, with this said, it's still a sad excuse for a book simply to lists all the things that makes one angry. I am sorry that I could only listen to 20 minutes of this book before turning it off. Enjoy yourself Greta.

  • The Urantia Book (Part 4): The Life and Teachings of Jesus

    • UNABRIDGED (48 hrs)
    • By Urantia Foundation

Part 4 is an easy listening and inspiring biography of the life and teachings of Jesus. This narrative spans his life from his birth in Bethlehem to his death in Jerusalem. The authors describe his childhood, his struggles to overcome teenage problems, his travels and adventures, and his fascinating episodes of personal and public ministry. While The Urantia Book's presentation of Jesus generally corresponds with the Bible, it stands unique, packed with new information and fresh insights.

Mo says: "Amazing biography of Jesus"
"Wonderful: If It Were Only True"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The gullible and people who still believe in Santa.

Has The Urantia Book (Part 4): The Life and Teachings of Jesus turned you off from other books in this genre?

    Oh, absolutely

What aspect of the narrator’s performance would you have changed?

I couldn't listen to enough to answer this question

What character would you cut from The Urantia Book (Part 4): The Life and Teachings of Jesus?

    The character they call Jesus

    Any additional comments?

Yeah, save your money, buy anything by Bart D. Ehrman, and yep, almost forgot, Santa isn't real either. Don't you get it? The Urantia Book is a 20th Century, biblical forgery. Nothing new and revelatory message here. Sorry folks, just keep moving on. Oh, does anybody want to buy a slightly water-stained 1980, Urantia Book?

  • Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Bart D. Ehrman
    • Narrated By Jason Culp

Picking up where Bible expert Bart Ehrman's New York Times best seller, Misquoting Jesus, left off, Jesus, Interrupted addresses the larger issue of what the New Testament actually teaches...and it's not what most people think. This is the book that pastors, educators, and anyone interested in the Bible have been waiting for, a clear and compelling account of the central challenges we face when attempting to reconstruct the life and message of Jesus.

    Paul says: "Excellent book"
    "Knowledge is a wonderful thing…"

My praise for Bart D. Ehrman goes far beyond acknowledging his scholarship, he has done me an immense favor. Although baptized as a child, I am not a Christian and have always been made to feel that it was my fault. After listening to Jesus, Interrupted; I now understand why I am not a Christian and why I do not believe. The difference is that I can now articulate, with some degree of authority, just why I disbelieve. The coup de grace for me came when Bart asked the rhetorical question: Just how does one decide to believe one miracle and not another. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, especially if it inoculates a person from the mind-virus that is religion.
