"Waste of time and money"
This is the most boring Baldacci book to date! Just seemed so over the top w/ characters that were unbelievable. I am half way through and wondering why I am still listening. I wonder who wrote it?
"Just not enough stars to rate this one!"
Wow!!
Sparse, clean, evocative, enchanting and wondrous. My words can not start to describe this work.
You walk and dream right along w/ Harold during his journey as he discovers much of his life in the rear view mirror. It seems often, it is only after the fact that we get a clear understanding of what we have experienced and who we should have recognized as important, no mater what a small part they played in our lives (are their small parts or do they all add up?). I don't understand why more people don't know about this work. It reminds me of "Gump", "Racing in the Rain", "Guernsey Potato Pie Society", or "Legend of Bagger Vance".
This is one of the best works I have ever read.
Now how wonderful was the reader!! Just as excellent as possible! I don't think this book will be done justice on the printed page after being colored w/ such a rich read. I will listen to more by Jim Broadbent no matter what he reads! His voice is reminiscent of Anthony Hopkins or Richard Burtan. I can not say enough good things about the artists and their production group.
Thanks so much for such a textured experience and it is an experience.

"Boring"
I have gotten away from JGs work of late having found it pushed and not anywhere near the excellence of his original novels. I read the reviews and thought this one sounded like he might have returned to previous levels, but that sadly is not the case. I enjoyed parts and the reader, but the story does not drive forward and has multiple digressions that just are not important.
I would not suggest wasting the credit on this mediocre tale. Chuck
"Sorry Didn't Float My Boat"
Well read but the story just did not hold up. Way too much poor kids stuff and an ending that was just too far out. I have enjoyed some of her other books, but this one some how got off the tracks. Some interesting moments, unfortunately over shadowed by the poor and unbelievable story line. I could not wait for this book to end while hoping for the best.
"Not up to speed"
This and the first book had some very interesting and intriguing moments, but you can only do so much w/ a plot. This one just dragged out the first and then didn't finish!!! Quite a bit out in left field. The narrator however did his best and drew the characters in vivid color. No way am I buying the next one, sorry. Chuck
"Wonderous Tale"
I read a lot of books and this is one of the best in this genre. A little bit of Gaiman, Bradbury and some Rowings! What a great tale and super delivery. I did not want it to end and wanted to spend more time w/ the characters and the intrigue, not to mention the core of the story, the love of the two magicians! Reminds me a bit of "Stardust". I think its a good read for kids to adults w/ a whimsical bone. Super narration by a reader that in the past has done mostly children s books. I appreciated his characterization of all the parts! Good work. My only disappointment is that its over and it will be several years before I can read it again! Thanks again for the wonderful time at the "Night Circus"! Chuck
"Not so great"
I thought the concept of the different view points and delivery were terrific, I just would have liked a bit more rounded perspective on the parts of the characters other than Adams. It certainly did take you to the battle field and give you the feelings of fear. I did learn quite about the Pacific Theater that I did not know before. Probably great if you like war novels, just not quite my cup of tea.
"Wow"
What an imaginative work! It took my thick brain a bit of time to get the picture. I am sure I would benefit from a second reading w/o worrying about who is doing what to whom! This was one of the most creative works I have had the pleasure to try to figure out while enjoying the character struggles that are so much the same for all of us to some degree. It did seem like so segmented chapters put together, but it is a book that I would (do) strongly recommend to friends. Thank you Jenifer
"Enjoyable Read"
This is well written book w/ a wonderful narrator (Gavin). Its not Tolstoy but instead is a good place to spend some time. As another reviewer wrote "not Nevada Barr", true but different and better in some ways. This is the first work I have heard from either the author of the reader, but I will take note and listen to more of their work. A bit complicated and implausible, but its fiction and a good read. Thanks to both the artists.
"Disapointing at best"
I was reluctant to order this since I felt DB was going down hill w/ the Camel Club. I chose to give him another go based on his previous works (and the fact that my selection window was about to close). This book is not much more than a Marvel or DC comic! Some of the reading is good, but some is dry and without any relationship between characters. The female British agent must have called in her part from across the pond. I am only half through the first part and don't know if I can go on! Sorry but don't waste your time or money.
"Very Dull"
I am generally patient with this sort of fantasy, but after a good start this work became just boring. I wonder what age group it was written for. It just seemed to keep driving away at the same points. It was also difficult for me to get into the characters. The reader was good but a bit flat. Perhaps that was the content. Could not finish this book. Sorry not one I would recommend. Try George RR Martins or David Eddings if you want this type of adventure.
