    Overall

I don't think it is bad at all. It's not the best of the series but surely not the worst. I didn't think the reader was as bad as portrayed either. Growing up in Chicagoland I didn't have any trouble with her accent, in fact I think it gives the read a little character.
The only thing I hate is paying $11 for 3 hrs.

When Robin Nevins, the son of Hawk's boyhood mentor, is denied tenure at the University, Hawk asks Spenser to investigate. It appears the denial is tied to the suicide of a young gay activist, and as Spenser digs deeper he is nearly drowned in a multicultural swamp of politics. At the same time, Spenser's inamorata, Susan, asks him to come to the aid of an old friend, K.C. Roth, the victim of a stalker. Spenser solves the problem a bit too effectively when K.C. turns the tables and begins to stalk him.

It's a better than average Spenser novel and unfortunately for me the last one of the series I haven't listened to but the background music that comes & goes about drove me nuts.

Boston P.I. Spenser is back! He's traveled west to investigate a murder in Potshot, Arizona, a former mining town reborn as a hangout for Los Angeles millionaires. A motley band of thieves, lead by The Preacher, is wreaking havoc, and Spenser must find a way to beat the gang at their own dangerous game.

Spencer is the guy we all want to be. Big, bad & not afraid of anyone. Mixed with violence, humor & a lot of sexual innuendos it makes for a great listen.

Alex Cross' first case since joining the FBI has his new colleagues stymied. Across the country, men and women are being kidnapped in broad daylight and then disappearing completely. These people are not being taken for ransom, Alex realizes. They are being bought and sold. And it looks like a shadowy figure known as the Wolf, a master criminal who has brought a new reign of terror to organized crime, is behind this business in which ordinary men and women are sold as slaves.

    "Background Music Sucks"
    Overall

Although the book was good there are times throughout the read that is accompanied by background music. It offered nada to the read, in fact at times it drove me to turn it off. It's OK to hear background music in obvious situations but lets keep it terse. Pictures of the happenings are developed by our own minds and I don't need music to help me accomplish that.
