  • The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty: The First of the Classic Erotic Trilogy of Sleeping Beauty

In the traditional folktale of Sleeping Beauty, the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.

This is not a book for the easily blushed. The story is dark but keeps moving. You can understand the transformation of it's characters to who they become and how they become that way. I found that more interesting then the erotica. Well written.

Would you consider the audio edition of My Life as a White Trash Zombie to be better than the print version?

I have to admit that this was just a filler book till something else I wanted to listen to came along. I have to tell you that this is a really good listen, Not too serious I laughed quite a few times. Angle is quite the red neck and makes the story. The plot has a lot twists and turns keeps things interesting. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

What about Allison McLemore’s performance did you like?

Allison does a great job with this book. She keeps the tone of the characters and situations right on track.

Who was the most memorable character of My Life as a White Trash Zombie and why?

All I can say is that Angle is a GREAT character!! She is very real in the way she talks and reacts!

    Any additional comments?

This was a great listen. It was the only short story collection that I really enjoyed! The back ground on some of the characters as well as the other short stories were great! This makes the series, it brings it all together!
Kim Harrison is a great story teller and Marguerite Gavin is one of my favorite narrators.
If you like the Hollows you have to listen to this!

    Overall

I've enjoyed the series up to this book. The story is still good but the narrator is NOT. Being use to the other voices and characters from the previous 5 books, this narrator was bad. You couldn't tell when the character changed and she mispronouced so many names and words, it made it very disappointing. I hope with the next book they bring back the original narrator.
