I rarely give five stars to any book. My criteria is that the book must keep my attention to the point that I look forward to my morning commute and dread getting out of my car when I get to my destination. This book wins on both counts!

When I purchased it, I did know that this was goign to be a two book story. However, I thought that there would have been some logical conclusion to the first part and the second book would be a sequal. (Kind of like Star Wars...). However this book litterally drops in the middle of the action. The fact that the second book is not out yet is inexcusable.

The reader is also not the best person for this book. She just does not have enough range to cover all of the diffrerent characters and it can be difficult to pick between several characters that all sound the same. (May not be an issue for some people, but I found it a little difficult and had to rewind a few times to make sure I understood who was talking...)

Other than that, it is actually a good book. Too bad that it gets shot in the foot out of the gate. I'd likely give it a three or four stars if it wasn't broken in the middle.

A well written story that has hints of historical and truthiness built in but the author knows when to leave reality to create entertainment. Well narrated as well.

Loved this book. A little predictable at the end, but still very entertaining.

If you are trying to figure out if you should download this book, do so. It is interesting and worth a listen, although it is not the same "drats I have finished my commute and I'm in the middle of a chapter" feel as some of the Left Behind series. It is largely a retelling of the Gospel of John word-for-word. There are some parts that offer an insight as to what it may have been like for John, but there are clearly areas where they could have gone further into the historical fiction realm with character development.

This is a fabulous book. My wife and I enjoyed it completely on a recent road trip. I know that a number of people in the forums complained about the Asian names. Yes, the characters are Japanese. Yes, they have Japanese names. However, I did not find it hard to follow the story. The way that the author ensconces the listener in the beautiful description of each scene pulls the reader into feudal Japan. Neither overly graphic nor too bland, the story is well defined and gripping. I highly recommend this book.

I have loved all of the books in this series so far. I still like the story, but am not a fan of the new narrator. His accents are horrible and pace too quick. (Half the charactes sound like Dracula and the other half Gomer Pyle.)

However, the series is great and if you made it this far, you really can't stop listening. I have blown through my Listener allotment, increased my subscription to premium and am three weeks away until the next month...

As an entrepreneur, I appreciate stories of those who have gone before me to create new markets despite adversity. The author presents an interesting perspective on American entrepreneurs and narrates a compelling set of stories.

A very compelling story that kept me listening and looking forward to my commute. The narrator does a great job with multiple voices and accents. MC claims that he does not have a partiuclar point of view, I can only take this as a tounge-in-cheek statement and think it is clear that he has stronger questions about studies commissioned by environmentalists than other studies. That being said, he raises a number of great points to ponder about the "scientific" studies that we all know about and actions we take on behalf of the environment that backfire.

I tried to listen to this book. I really did. I made it about 10 minutes. The combination of the dimestore novel prose and matching reader's voice was too distracting. Perhaps if I gave it an hour I would like it, but life is too short. I gave it one star, but that is really one too many.
