The first Plantagenet king inherited a blood-soaked kingdom from the Normans and transformed it into an empire that stretched at its peak from Scotland to Jerusalem. In this epic history, Dan Jones vividly resurrects this fierce and seductive royal dynasty and its mythic world. We meet the captivating Eleanor of Aquitaine, twice queen and the most famous woman in Christendom; her son, Richard the Lionheart, who fought Saladin in the Third Crusade; and King John, a tyrant who was forced to sign Magna Carta, which formed the basis of our own Bill of Rights.

What did you like best about The Plantagenets? What did you like least?

I love history and this time period is not one that I know alot about so I was anxious to learn more. I was disappointed with the seemingly bullet list approach. While I am sure that Mr. Jones is very capable, this book is not very "entertaining" as he said was one of his goals.

Would you recommend The Plantagenets to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not. The story is too succinct and the narration is not engaging.

What didn’t you like about Clive Chafer’s performance?

    Not very engaging.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Would you listen to Ender's Game again? Why?

This is one of the classics of Science Fiction.

What did you like best about this story?

This story reminds me of what it means to be human - conflicted, loyal, stubborn, divided, empathetic and all the rest.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Ender feeling hopeless, confused and angry at the overwhelming odds faced in the final battle and hearing Bean say, "The enemy's gate is down". That brings clarity and a feeling of decision to win, even if it means "cheating" by attacking the planet.
