The setting is Hong Kong, 1963. The action spans scarcely more than a week, but these are the days of high adventure, from kidnapping and murder to financial double-dealing and natural catastrophes: fire, flood, and landslide. Yet they are days filled as well with all the mystery and romance of Hong Kong, the heart of Asia, rich in every trade: money, flesh, opium, power.

Everything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington. Reacher is ordered undercover - to find out everything he can, to control the local police, and then to vanish. Reacher is a good soldier. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, he finds layers no one saw coming, and the investigation spins out of control. Local sheriff Elizabeth Deveraux has a thirst for justice - and an appetite for secrets.

If you have read one Jack Reacher novel you have read them all, but that doesn't stop me coming back for more. Like all Lee Child novels every page is filled with suspense and excitement and its the kind of thing you can't put down. Same goes with this audio book, if you want a sure fire way to while away some time then you can't go wrong with this action suspense novel..

  • 11-22-63: A Novel

    Story

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Engrossing, hard to leave alone and written with typical Steven King aplomb. Nice reading too, overall a positive experience and not too dark...

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

    Story

If you like sci-fi and computer games, especially MRPG's, you will enjoy this book. Straight forward and fun with an easy prose suitable for a range of ages this is an amusing listen. Enjoyable but won't appeal to older readers/listeners who like a complex plot as it sometimes seems a little simplistic... but I am 36 years old and at 14 I expect I would have been truly mesmerised.

It begins with an explosion. Another day, another bus bomb. Everyone, it seems, is after a piece of Turkey. But the shockwaves from this random act of 21st century pandemic terrorism will ripple further and resonate louder than just Enginsoy Square. Welcome to the world of The Dervish House; the great, ancient, paradoxical city of Istanbul, divided like a human brain, in the great, ancient, equally paradoxical nation of Turkey. The year is 2027....

This story Offers an insight into Turkey and a fascinating sci-fi novel set in the near future it's sure to keep you enthralled. Things started a little slowly and at first I wasn't that impressed with the reading or the prose, but stick with it for an hour and you will be enchanted right to the end. Some interesting ideas, I will be looking out some more Ian McDonald books as I really enjoyed this one!
