This is a lecture, wouldn't work the same in print. There are a lot of relevant joke points, which are funny and descriptive, but would not be half as funny if they are made in print.

Sadly, there aren't many commentary audiobooks out there. I think there are still many questions about the events that were not explored, but this is really good, consider genesis is a very rich book. If you are reading Genesis for the first and second time, I would highly recommend this book.

I love his jokes. I read someone wrote about his awesome humour, and I was skeptical about it. He is a humble man who wants to share his knowledge with people, so it's not much about him but what he knows, I love the historical elements he brings to the table, I have been waiting for something like this for a very long time, less theological, but more historical, at the same time still draw people closer to God.

When the author talks about the life of Jacob, some of the things about his characters and how he would have hurt the feelings of his brother. Often time I think we do not think much about Esau, which is fair, the Bible didn't provide a lot about him, but the interaction of Esau with Jacob also paints the flaws of Jacob. Abraham, Issac, Jacob, the stories of love, marriage, off-springs, brotherhood and powder, Dr. draws a very clear picture of these family affairs.

Get it, you won't regret it, it's not expensive anyways. If you haven't get out of Egypt (can't finish the part where Moses was going out) or worse yet, you are still stuck in Eden, then this audio is for you to hear.

This is not a religious book, I got this for my non-Christian friends. I read books about existential questions by authors who are New-age, Jews, Muslim, agnostic, or non-religious. Donald is Christian, and there are issues in life that he narrate from a Christian's perspective, like how God loves us, how God is present in our lives, but not in the mission to convert the audiences.

I love the fact that Donald narrated his own book, his monotone is embedded with his great sense of humour, and you can hear that subtle cheekiness in the beginning, slowly move to heavier issues he witnessed. He talks about his experiences in life without focusing solely on himself, but people he came across who live not only to write a better life story for themselves, but for strangers, too.

I listen to many of my audio books more than once, and this one, I listen to it a few times already.

This is not a self-help book, and author didn't reflect on his life was hard for him, and how others have wronged him, so I don't know what other books to compare this with.

I like how he is not giving you an answer as if he knows what life is all about, but though his experiences and people he met, he realized there are some common elements to a good story line of one's life. He talks about his own struggles, his friend's baby's birth, and friend's wife's death, he talks in the way that brings us to the experience. I feel like I had a long walk with Donald and he told me all these things he observed.

The words brought me tears, the struggles in a broken family, the sadness of losing your love one. A very honest book.

In a nut shell, I tried to finish the book, but I doubt her "Christian theology" as soon as she talked about her tribal "healing experience" by stripe naked in front of some young men, indeed she said felt "ashamed" not because she has to be naked, but that in her age, most of the things are pointing south, so she felt "ashamed" to be naked in front of them. She saw fire coming out from the tribal leaders and sees dragon flying around. You be your own judge if you want to buy this book.

Her theology is extremely weak, and nearly non-existent. Picking up a few verses here and there to support her argument. She is basically telling God what to do, instead of listening to His voice. I really do think she is not a Christian, but seeing Christianity a good market to target. It is really a scam in my opinion. In her sample, she didn't include any of those scary ideas, or else I would not buy this.

She believes God calls her to be rich, she would turn down a ministry because it does not provide monetary wealth. Her idea of God's blessings builds only on material wealth, the extreme opposite of most Christian believe. I don't think God calls all of us to be in poverty, yet I don't believe God asks us to live a lavish life.

Not again for sure.

I would not buy this book.

My minister introduced me this book when I told him I can't pray to God. although I know in mind that God cares and loves me and forgives me, that I matters to Him, my heart feels otherwise. The first 10 chapters talks a lot about worldly grace, how people are touched by grace or how people freely offer grace, I thought it was great, but made no personal relevant to me. From Chapter 11 on, however, Yancey propose a lot of hard real issues about Christianity and grace. It opened my eyes to wonder about God's grace all over again. This book is biblical and at the same time discuss how we propose how we can live our modern life with the grace of God. This book is not dry.

I am a Christian woman, I am offended by the author referring filthy things as menstrual cloth. I don't think I should further explain why. If it was an one off comparison, I can pretend that I didn't hear it, but it was used as if menstrual cloth was the most disgusting thing on earth that the author can find. Well, that's what we woman go through every month, we see it as a blessing of God, thank you. This book throws me a lot of statistics, and very different from the trail listening part, which was the reason I bought it. The book also repeats the story of "Jericho Road" quite a lot, so, after listing it for 3 hrs, I give it one star, although I do not doubt that there's some good info in it.

I have heard complains about Don reading his own book with mono tone, but I love his version much more than the one by a professional reader. Don is reading his experience as if he is sharing with a friend, and the way he reenacts his conversations with his friends and pastor is so lively !

I have been struggling with God for the past 5 years, and I finally opened up to God again after listing to Don's book, I share similar struggles with Don in some of his years. The world looks gloomy, and the church can be so cold; I also become one of those "Christian" who often say "God be with you" and "I will pray for you" while I don't think God was with nor do I even pray for myself, I became one of those Christian I used to hate before I was a Christian. This book brought me tears and laughters, a very honest, authentic and passionate book.

I am a big fans of Apprentice, the show has inspired me, I never thought I can start a business until I saw the show.

Bill stood out as an honest and smart, articulate guy, and I am excited to find his book. His book has not disappointed me as I think he gave very sincere review of how he came about. He did humbly admit on his luck for his hard work, he is very positive, funny, and encouraging. A path of building your dream life is not easy, and this guy gave me great advice and encouragement with his book. Thanks Bill
