"All the pr is paying off and we're all suckers..."
Funny book. I wonder how many people that have commented about this book have actually read it, or any history books? To say that she's right and everyone else's history is wrong? How can that be?
First we have blondes that can't sing selling records, now blondes that can't write selling books. I wonder how many books she would sell if she looked like Rush in a dress? Would the publishers put that photo on the cover? Not likely, I can tell you that. If you're a conservative like me - please -find some real heroes and historians, not some talk-show soundbiter shoved down the consumer's throats...
Whether you believe this book is true or not, realize that you've been suckered into buying it. Would you like to super size that?
"Good listen"
Salem's Lot is not very surprising or interesting, but it's a solid piece of horror writing. The narrator was excellent, too. I listened because Father Callahan becomes a part of the "Dark Tower" series!
"excellent book on Ted and his amazing life"
Williams was such a mysterious person, it's great to hear such a well researched and interesting book. Williams was really the first to: have a bench coach as a manager and first to really market himself and his name after his career was over. Not to mention he was the last to hit 400 in a season. What a hitter and what a strange bird. The Narrator's mispronunciation of Filene's is painful. Shouldn't a story like this be read by someone familiar with the Boston area?
"Couldn't get through it..."
I know it's not good to write a review for a book you could not finish, but that's the problem. I could not stay focused on the story or plot. If you haven't heard/read Snow Crash, do that one before this.
"A long interesting book..."
I'm not sure if I believe all the hype about it being life changing, but "The Fountainhead" is a great read. I was amazed that I got through all those hours of the book without being bored or distracted. Great story and what a job of acting by the reader! All the players were given totally different voices. Well done. Never before had I felt like I read the book instead of listening to it.
"If you're into baseball or sports..."
you'll enjoy this audio book. The Oakland A's and Billy Beane's formula for success is revealed. Although the A's did have one of the lowest OBP compared to other teams this year. It's still a revealing and funny look at behind the scenes baseball.
"Wow"
... what a fun and exciting read. "Snow Crash" is by far the best audio book I've heard so far. If you're into action and sci-fi but hate dumbed down stories you'll like this. The voice acting is great too.
"Good noirish mystery, but..."
... there is some very annoying acting when it comes to the actor reading the disabled cop's dialogue. I found those parts extremely grating.
