Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a 14-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway....

Best "read" of the year. Baldacci changes it up a bit and brings us a new type of hero. The male reader is great. The female reader is good but not great. Her accents leave a lot to be desired.

A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Mitzner's characters, from the DA to the Judge,to the Defense Lawyer, ( the main charactet) ring true. As a trial lawyer myself, I very rarely read, or enjoy lawyer books. I have a tendency to pick too many holes in the plot or the trial objections etc. Not to say I didn't do it in this book but overall it was pretty ture to form. In fact, at times, when the author was talking about emotions and the pressures of a trial lawyer he was right on. The characters were very realistic. The Judge is someone I've been in front of many times, some actually worse. The story moves along well, a little sappy at times, but I stayed interested. Overall A good read, especially if you like lawyer books.

I did not like this book from the start. I stayed with it and read the whole book but it never got better. The reader is okay but the story is just silly. Not sure if there is really a plot and every twist is easily predicted. Written at a 12 year old level the book was very simplistic.

LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

This was without a doubt one of the, if not, the best book I have ever listened to. The reader was great, the story was even better. King's attention to detail, and his character developement were fantastic. I actually applauded at the end. (Although I was sad to see it end.) Fantastic!!

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

First of all let me mention Scot Brick. He is a great reader if the book moves on itself. However if the book is slow, he becomes unbearable. I actually played the book at double speed to move it along. Brick is overly dramatic even when not necessary. The book itself is weak. It seems like the author believes that the more twists he puts in the book the better it is. Wrong! I felt it was like a high school student writing his fist book. Just silly at times. Really weak.

An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

I read, or listen to books to be entertained. Grisham's books usually do that. There is nothing worse however when an established fiction writer tries to disguise his political views as a fiction story. There is no story here and there is nothing new presented for the anti capital punishment agenda. If I wanted to read a one sided discussion on the merits of capital punishment I would have purchased any of a thousand books on the subject. And there is another side to his agenda. But I didn't purchase this book to be preached at. Boy was I had.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

I must admit that I was put off by the negative reviews I read. I listened to it anyway and loved it. With good characters that I cared about it is a very easy read. What I was amazed at was how little I learned in school about WW1. I think you could easily teach a course based on this book. I went to the internet constantly to learn more about incidents that were mentioned in the book. I could not put it down.

Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.
