  • Iron Kissed: Mercy Thompson, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Patricia Briggs
    • Narrated By Lorelei King
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to shapeshifting car mechanic Mercy Thompson to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not. And she'll have to choose between the two werewolves in her life-whether she wants to or not.

Wonderful series! The author and the reader are an incredible team. This series is a great mixture of fantasy, suspense, action and romance. The characters are really rich and fun. The romance between the two main characters really enhances the story, but doesn't bog the story down. I don't read romance novels, but a little romance and sex in a book like this is fun. The author develops the romance between the two characters thru the series and makes it intriguing to watch. It's fun, sexy and easy to believe. Each book is complete enough to stand alone, but it's better to read the books in order since some things are built on what occurred in a previous book, but not dependent on it. The reader is really good and is able to develop voices and stay true to them thru the series; you know exactly who is speaking all the time. I highly recommend this series and have to a lot of people!

  • Touch of Surrender

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Rhyannon Byrd
    • Narrated By Lola Holiday

With his auburn hair and lean build, Kierland Scott looks more man than lycan. But his wolf instincts are aroused by the gray-eyed Morgan Cantrell. Not because of her beauty, but because of her long-ago betrayal, a fateful choice that made their love impossible.

Awful! Both the story and reader. I love werewolf and vampire storis and enjoy a little romance added in to them. But, I could not even finish this book. This story is for the person who just wants back to back graphic sex scenes. You get about 2 minutes of story, then 10 minutes of sex. Again, 2 minutes of story and 10 minutes of sex just slightly different to the 20 times before. The sex really interferred with the story. It got to when I started hearing the all too predictable sex scene coming up, I found myself yelling, "Oh, come on! Not again!" I tried several times going back to the story, but it was the same thing. The reader's accents are horrific, too!!! I will never read another story by this author and will make sure I do not get any more books read by this reader.

  • A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (33 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By George R. R. Martin
    • Narrated By Roy Dotrice
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

    "Game of Thrones"

This is a good story, but I could not get past the reader. I did not even finish the audible version and went to strictly reading the story. My low rating is strictly due to the reader.

  • Life of Pi

    • By Yann Martel
    • Narrated By Jeff Woodman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

    "Life of Pi"

I skipped through about the first 13 chapters and kept trying to hang in there, thinking others had thought it was a good book. There were some entertaining parts, but I regret having gotten this book. The reader is very good, but the story really dragged on and on for me.

  • Wolfbreed

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By S. A. Swann
    • Narrated By Grover Gardner
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When a monk inadvertently discovers a lair of werewolf young, he unleashes what will become the Church’s most powerful and secret weapon. The werewolves are clandestinely raised by the Teutonic Order to serve as instruments of God against pagan unbelievers. Trained to slip into villages cloaked in human form, they are all but unstoppable. Only one, called Lilly, has cunningly fled her brutal master.

David says: "Very impressed with this authors writing"

When this book was finished, I felt cheated. I didn't feel there was enough meat to the story. It was a bit strange in the beginning, but finally started rolling along. Then, all of a sudden, it was finished. I did enjoy seeing the female character grow and experience the world, but it wasn't enough for me. The reader was fair and I would have liked to hear more emotion from him with the characters.

  • Dead Until Dark: Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mystery #1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs)
    • By Charlaine Harris
    • Narrated By Johanna Parker

Vampires have officially "come out of the coffin", and Miss Sookie can't wait for one to come her way.

Pamela says: "That Vampire Said ...."
"Dead Until Dark: Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampir"

Well, I must say that I warmed up to this story and even more to the reader. The reader does a great job at a southern drawl, which at first I could hardly tolerate. But, I got in to the character of Sookie and started enjoying the reader. The story is cute because of the Sookie character. At first I didn't think I would like the story and no way would go for the next one. But, after finishing, I am still a bit reserved, I think because of the strange relationship between a human and a vampire. I love vampire stories, but this one is very different. I'll try the next book and see....

  • Crusade: Destroyermen, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs)
    • By Taylor Anderson
    • Narrated By William Dufris

Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy, along with the men and women of the USS Walker, have chosen sides in a war not of their making. They have allied with the Lemurians - a mammalian race whose peaceful existence is under attack from the warlike, reptilian Grik. The Lemurians are vastly outnumbered and ignorant of warfare, and even the guns and technology of Walker cannot turn the tide of battle.

    Laura says: "Woman's Perspective"
    "Destroyermen: Crusade"

Oh, my goodness.... I was so bored with this story and the reader's voices drove me crazy. I did not make it very far at all with this book.

  • Blood Cross: Jane Yellowrock, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By Faith Hunter
    • Narrated By Khristine Hvam
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Jane Yellowrock is back on the prowl against the children of the night. The vampire council has hired skinwalker Yellowrock to hunt and kill one of their own who has broken sacred ancient rules - but Jane quickly realizes that in a community that is thousands of years old, loyalties run deep.

Ducky says: "GO JANE!!! GO FAITH!! AND GO KHRISTINE!!"
"Blood Cross: Jane Yellowrock, Book 2"

This is another great tale with Jane Yellowrock. The author creates a strong, female character, who also is vulnerable in some ways. There is enough intrique and action to keep you interested. The story is developed well. I enjoy the toughness and sometimes softness of the main character. I look forward to future stories with Jane Yellowrock.

  • Dragon Haven: Rain Wilds Chronicles, Volume 2

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Robin Hobb
    • Narrated By Anne Flosnik

The dragon keepers and the fledgling dragons are forging a passage up the treacherous Rain Wild River. They are in search of the mythical Elderling city of Kelsingra and are accompanied by the liveship Tarman, its captain, Leftrin, and a group of hunters who must search the forests for game with which to keep the dragons fed. With them are Alise, who has escaped her cold marriage to the cruel libertine Hest Finbok in order to continue her study of dragons, and Hest's amanuensis, Bingtown dandy Sedric.

Joe says: "A very LITTLE better than the first book"
    "Dragon Haven"

This was a pretty good book and I found the characters were well developed. I wish the dragons were different, being a dragon lover. I was hoping the story was more about them, but it wasn't. It was a decent story and one I hope that will develop more about about the dragons in following books. The reader was good and was able to use different voices for different characters, which I like. The story did drag from time to time and I wish there was more action in it. If you have dragons in a story, there is usually action! Don't plan on too much with this story. The dragons were not very likeable at all, which disappointed me.

  • Rogue: Shifters, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Rachel Vincent
    • Narrated By Jennifer Van Dyck
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"Okay, so cats don't always land on their feet. I know that better than most. Since rejoining the Pride, I've made big decisions and even bigger mistakes: the kind paid for with innocent lives. As the first and only female enforcer, I have plenty to prove to my father, the Pride, and myself."

    Stephanie says: "WONDERFUL."
    "Rogue, Werecats, Book 2"

I kinda enjoyed the first book in this series and decided to try another one. I'm not sure if it was worth it or not. Some of it was fun, but I have trouble with the main character. I decided this is the last of the series I will read, since I just can't tolerate the story being wrapped around a spoiled brat. It's hard for me to believe the story when you have this loose cannon of a character that supposedly is extremely important, but who is allowed to misbehave and act so immature. If one grew up in this type of situation, I don't think they would turn out to be a flighty brat and I just can't listen to that character any more.

  • The Summer Tree: The Fionavar Tapestry, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Guy Gavriel Kay
    • Narrated By Simon Vance

The Summer Tree is the first novel of Guy Gavriel Kay's critically acclaimed fantasy trilogy, The Fionavar Tapestry. Five university students embark on a journey of self-discovery when they enter a realm of wizards and warriors, gods and mythical creatures - and good and evil...

Nissa says: "Obviously the first book of three"
"The Summer Tree: The Fionavar Tapestry, Book 1"

OK, I just didn't get it. Another book that I tried and tried to hang in there with. But, I grew so bored and lost. I finished it, but I now wish I hadn't wasted my time. The reader is excellent, as aways. Seeing that Simon Vance was the reader is what made me give this book a try. In quite a few instances, I found myself lost in the story and not following what was going on.
