"Glad it was a short book."
I absolutely loved book one on Audible. All of the actors and sounds really took this book to a new level. Unfortunately I can't say the same about "Dune Messiah" the story itself was lack luster in comparison to book 1 and the reading approach was not to my liking. As others have reviewed. The acting approach all went out the window. Instead they had different narrators take turns on different chapters. I know I would have enjoyed this book more if 1 narrator was reading. But because it was different ones it really took me out of the story and I was frankly tired when i finished. Frankly this is first time I have been so disappointed in an audio recording. Id give 3 stars because I felt all the narrators did a good job, but I'll give 2 stars for overall story and this disjointed narration style.
"Sorta Bias Review"
The only thing I can say bad about this work is that it's abridged. Carl Sagan is my hero so I can't say anything bad about the man. This book is awesome and I loved Jodie Fosters performance at times it was hard to follow certain characters but she does a great job.
"Great Information"
I have read the God Delusion and The Greatest Show on Earth. Professor Dawkins referenced this book and I wanted to listen to it on my commutes to work to further my understanding of evolution. This work has great information and good flow. I usually don't like when there is more then one narrator but this works out very well as there are times he is quoting something and then the narrator switches. This makes it easier to know this is occurring when you hear the voice change. Both narrators are wonderful to listen to.
"Fun Ride"
The Narrator did a fantastic job in my opinion. Really made it come alive for me. The story itself was alot of fun for me. King + Zombies = WIN. Some will love ending some will not. I loved it.
"fairly new to Stephen King"
I'm fairly new to Stephen King. Having loved the Dark Tower series I thought I would read other DT related books. All so far have been awesome! Especially Insomnia. I picked up Salem's Lot, always having heard of it but never actually reading it. I knew it was a classic but I thought It would be outdated. I read this during halloween season so the timing was perfect and yes it gave me a few bad dreams haha. All in all this book is a classic and a fun read. It was neat to see what things were going on in the 70's. Neat to see how times change but our nature doesn't really.
"Fantastic!"
Loved this recording. Jeffrey DeMunn did a fantastic Job bringing these characters to life, accents and all. The story is now one of my favorite King works. Going to watch the Movie tonight to get more Dreamcatcher fix in my system. Duddits!!
