"WOW!"
For anyone who was frustrated with Ghost Story, you will be vindicated! This is classic, exciting, satisfying Dresden! Butcher at his best.
"cookie cutter sex and dialogue"
I was looking forward to this book, but was disappointed with the very predictable story line. It seems like the author copy/pasted the sex scenes from the first book to the second. They aren't great the first time, but downright boring the second. I fast-forwarded through them. The dialogue is a bit rediculous and stilted. Overall, I just wish I hadn't wasted a credit on it. If you've read the first book - you've read the second one as well. Just switch out names. I won't get the third.
"Don't skip this one!"
Originally I skipped this book based on reviews, but I disagree with the poor ratings. I tried to go to book 3 but felt the gap too much so went back and got this one. It was a good story and definitely set up book 3.
"narrator ruins it"
I have listened to all the previous books in this series in order, and they are all performed by a different narrator. With the change in narrators for this latest book, the quality went down significantly. The most aggravating thing is that she doesn't pronounce some words correctly. She says "lee" lines instead of "lay" lines (spelled lei) and for the character Takata, says it as Ta-Ka-Ta instead of Ta-kat-a.
If I hadn't heard the first 4 or 5 books before this one, I'm sure it wouldn't have mattered. But I was so distracted by the constant mispronunciations, that it really detracted from the whole experience. They need to go back to the orginal narrator. She was MUCH better in every way.
