When Arlene Fleet heads up north for college, she makes three promises to God: She will stop fornicating with every boy who crosses her path; never tell another lie; and never, ever go back to the "fourth rack of hell", her hometown of Possett, Alabama. All she wants from Him is one little miracle: make sure the body is never found.

    "Good Story!"

I downloaded this on a whim and was so glad I did. I loved the Southern characters, the story, as well as the narration. After I finished it I had to wait a day or so before starting another book because the story kept replaying in my mind. It's not classic literature but it's a great read for summer vacation.

The girl everybody loves to hate has returned to the town she'd sworn to leave behind forever. As the rich, spoiled princess of Parrish, Mississippi, Sugar Beth Carey had broken hearts, ruined friendships, and destroyed reputations. But 15 years have passed, now she's come home, broke, desperate, and too proud to show it.

    "A great summer read..."

I'm a big fan of Southern Belle drama queens in literature, and these characters are very enjoyable. I would love to read more of her books, but unfortunately this the only one on Audible, so far. Hint!

  • Princes of Ireland: The Dublin Saga

    • UNABRIDGED (25 hrs and 53 mins)

The saga begins in tribal, pre-Christian Ireland during the reign of the fierce and mighty High Kings at Tara, with the tale of two lovers whose travails cleverly echo the ancient Celtic legend of Cuchulainn. From that stirring beginning, Rutherfurd takes the reader on a powerfully imagined journey through the centuries. Through the interlocking stories of a memorable cast of characters we see Ireland through the lens of its greatest city.

This story of Ireland's history is interesting, but I got frustrated by the "generation jumping." Just as I began to know the characters and the storyline got really interesting, it seemed to end abruptly and the next chapter would be set many years ahead,(sometimes skipping centuries) with the introduction of a whole new cast of characters. I tried to force myself to listen to it all but only made it halfway before deleting it from my Ipod.
