"Absolutely first class in every respect"
The heroine is an eleven year old chemistry genius who is a fine detective. The stories are excellent and the humour and tension are, in equal parts, superb.
The plots are well crafted and believable, even though the heroine is young.
I can't pick one scene as a favourite as the whole book is wonderful in so many different ways.
Suitable for all ages.
The author has a gift for writing a credible and edge of seat gripping yarn and enable us to put ourselves in the place of his heroine.
"Charley, Darynda and Lorelei a winning combination"
Darynda Jones is new to me as is her heroine Charley, but I immediately became a fan especially as there is a strong resemblance to another pair of favourites of mine, Janet Evanovich and Stephanie Plum. To add gold to the mixture the stupendous Lorelei King reads the story with her usual skills at personifying the characters and making them come alive. So good writing and reading make a unbeatable combination. I look forward to more.
"Usual Plum perfection"
The Audible version is not so much better as different. It speaks to a different mood. When I have time I love to read but I have become an addict of the writing of Janet Evanovich and the brilliant performances of Lorelei King. This is not just reading but truly theatrical - great stuff!
This is a 'holiday' volume as it is not in the numeric Plum series, but it still has all the hallmarks of a rolicking good tale with a surfeit of humour and great characterisation.
"A brilliant and stimulating read"
This is a very thought provoking thriller with a comprehensive series of twists.
Very good reading both for emphasis and clarity.
It made me think frequently.
Another excellent read from Audible and its excellent readers.
"Another great Jack Reacher book"
The story is, as always with Lee Child, excellent and the reading is first class.
I especially liked the way the murdering 'militia' were dealt with, but there are so many good moments throughout the book.
The Sheriff is a very sympathetic character and well portrayed both by the writing and the reader.
The ending was realistic and yet left one feeling sad.
This was my first Audible book and what a good advertisement for both the Audible-Kindle system and the excellence of the readers this was.
