"a little gruesome but quite good"
Both the writing and the performance capture the mood of the piece and keep your attention. I'll be looking for more Sallee
"Very Informative and hilarious to boot!"
Wrapped in a memoir is a wealth of information about how TV works (or worked during the Raymond years). I love the fact that instead of quoting from speeches he's given, the book contains the actual recordings of the speeches themselves. Well done, Mr. Rosenthal, well done.
"Please don't waste your time or credits or money"
no
I'm not certain for whom this was written. I'd expect such thin repetitive stories from a 10 year old but I would never pay money for them (again). Even young adult horror stories can be fun but these are neither well written nor fun. I feel like the victim of a terrible hoax.
Given the material, the narrator could never have polished these stories into gems but I get the impression he was trying to hide bad writing with enthusiastic overacting. I started to think this whole thing was a poorly done parody.
There are no characters, just barely described undeveloped actors in bad drama.
I can usually find something nice to say because an author and a narrator deserve a certain amount of respect for completing a work of art but this is just bad.
"Pete Earley hit another one out of the park"
Yes. the story was captivating and kept my interest throughout.
Obviously Tony is the protagonist but I thought his dad was interesting as well.
Digging in the orange grove, just so well written.
Not necessarily. The letters to/from the killers were good places to stop and reflect.
I loved Earley's book
"Very entertaining"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was worried about the quality of the author's narration but was pleasantly surprised.
"Excellent book, sub-par narration"
The author as narrator manages to turn an interesting book into a rather dull-sounding lecture.
It would only have taken a professional narrator to turn this into a 5 star rating. In its present state I'd give it a marginal "recommend" rating.
"great Great GREAT !"
I liked "Sharp Objects" but I love this book. It starts out strong and just keeps hitting you. I highly recommend this book if you want an engaging thriller.
"The Best Book I've Heard All Year"
This is both a fun and a thought provoking book. The writing is crisp but kudos to the reader who makes the dialogue come alive.
"Excellent, more please!"
As others mention, this is a thriller packed with a lot of humor. The dialog is almost "noir" in rhythm. I think you'll find it well worth your valuable credit.
"I want to give this more stars"
The story is a good one. The narrator has a lovely voice and does the text justice.
What this audiobook needed desperately was an editor! It sounds like they just released the unedited recording - missed words and repeated passages and all. I've heard very amateur podcasts with better production values.
I want to listen to more of this author's work and the narrator's voice but I'll never buy another book from this publisher.
Shameful!
