I will keep and treasure this. It is great insight to one of my most favorite women.
I liked the look inside the cast of characters. Not only Diana's but other's important in her life. The Queen, Prince Phillip and Prince Charles changed my minds about them for the better, and others for worse..
Her voice is wonderful, crisp and easy to listen to. I know I have heard her read before. Excellent!
Yes, and some sections I listened more than once.
One of the very best books on Diana.
Longtime Beatle fan here and Tune In is for fans like me. I have read just about every Beatle book there is. This is exceptional. This is a must have for the true fan. Takes you right in from the beginning to the days just before The Beatles came to the States. Loved the inside stories on the Beatles families, their personalities, where they came from. John the mad, sometimes evil genius, Paul the brilliant songwriter and businessman before his time, George - talented, perfected guitarist even before he bloomed and Ringo the likable kid who was talented and in the right place at the right time. Stu, Pete Best all intricate parts to building this phenomenon known as the Beatles. Of course Brian Epstein who believed in them and pushed them to the top.
I cannot wait to read the next chapter of Tune In - The Beatles 1963 to 1969. I hope there will be one.
This is number one in my book of reads.
I have been a casual fan of football since 1972, high school and NFL. The story of Mike Webster drew me into this book, and although the written part of his story is short in this book, it is powerful and extremely sad. I though, how and why do networks and fans scream and carry on while the physical health and physical destruction of the players are at risk? (no need to ask really - money). I think that this story is best viewed because of all of the names involved, but it needs more than just a listen. When I tried to discuss this among friends before the Super Bowl, it was something no one cared to hear about or discuss.
I have a relative who plays school football, I will no longer attend and cheer school football.
It changed my opinion on the greedy individuals involved in these weekly productions.
The worst part is that it has been talked about for decades, yet the tragedy goes on.
In 1906 the NCAA started out as a group of greedy, collegiate executives who placed a veneer of safety on football so as to keep it from being banned.
The movie was great, but the book is even better. Characters become more detailed. Story is fuller. Joe Mantegna is a superb narrator. Don't pass this by just because you think you have seen it. One of my all time favorites from Audible.
I am a long time fan of Michael Savage. This book is an excellent collection of stores from his life, where he came from and where he has gone and they are told with the wisdom and thoughts and ideas of his years life experience. There is only one thing I wish for this and other Michael Savage books and that is that Savage, himself, would himself be the narrator of his own books. The stories move quickly, many nostalgic, and I don't understand why the word Holidays is included in the book title. For Michael Savage fans like myself, it was a pleasure and great listen to know more about the man, Savage, and kept my attention throughout.
I don't usually choose books of fiction, but with all of the great reviews I had to pick this one. Ordinary Grace is a great listen, a good, although slow moving mystery story about life in a small, quiet town through the eyes of two young brothers which takes place in 1961. I found it a little slow at first, but something kept me listening till the end. It takes many turns and keeps you guessing the answer right to the end. I would definitely recommend and I will start to delve deeper into stories like this one.
An absolute riveting, true story about the abduction of a beloved pet. I can only hope that this story will bring more focus to the lives of dogs and the horror and sadness of things that can happen when our backs are turned or when people are just uncaring and even criminal. Dogs and others in the animal kingdom are so much more than just animals. Don't go thinking that this will be too sad, because the story ends on a high note, but the journey is heart wrenching. Guard you pets like you do your children. I knew exactly what the author was feeling throughout. The narrator was excellent. Bless Tricia O'Malley for sharing her story.
Anita Moorjani tells her incredible life and death story. Very inspirational, and if true, then we of us, who have not yet suffered and died (and returned), will never learn it's secrets. Nor am I positively sure that the Creator would want us to know or we would know already. This is my main problem with the book. Things that Ms Moorjani speaks about such as terrible criminal things that some humans do to one another - that we should think very differently of them and treat them differently. This seems an almost impossible human trait to do for most of us. I'm not sure if these are Ms Moorjani's own ideas or truths from a higher being's truths for us to even know. I did enjoy the book, however, and it did make me look at some things differently, if only for a few days..
As a long time watcher of Mike Tyson, I thought this would be interesting. Interesting how one man with so much talent could lose so much and come back a stronger and a better man. This is the book to read if you have any interest in Mike Tyson. It is at times tense, at times shocking, at times sad, but I believe in my heart an honest outpouring of Mike Tyson. I could not put it down. It is a long read/listen and will not disappoint. I first said that I was a watcher of Mike Tyson, now I am a fan of the man.
I am a huge fan of horror stories, especially the "true" ones. This did not disappoint! This is my second listen to this audio book, and it is without a doubt one of my favorite Audible purchases. This is not one of those bloody, murderous horror stories. It is about the ghostly, the unknown, the hauntings and this will send chills down your spine if you listen alone or at night. This is a group of "true" stories, one or two you may know, others you may not, but they are definitely still worth the listen with the excellent performance of Denica Fairman, and also some facts you never heard before. It also gives the listener/reader a chance to think about the facts as they relate to the stories. The narration is the icing on the cake and I look forward to hearing more from Terry Deary and Denica Fairman. Absolutely superb!
Being a fan of MJ since his beginnings, I found this book answered all of the questions. MJ was a complex human being, a brilliant man and performer, and the sum of his past. This book was incredible and sad and I could not stop listening. If anyone has based their own opinion on MJ from news sources - push the biased, tabloid opinions aside and try this book first. His family let him down and so did people he considered friends. I hope MJ finds peace now.
