Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES! I WOULD EVEN RECOMMEND IT TO AN ENEMY! THIS IS AS CURRENT TODAY AS WHEN IT WAS WRITTEN 50 YEARS AGO. VERY SCARY TO THINK SHE WAS WRITING AS MUCH FOR TODAY'S POLITICAL CLIMATE AS WHEN IT WAS PUBLISHED. WAKE UP PEOPLE AND THINK ABOUT WHAT WE ARE ALLOWING THOSE WHO "CARE" FOR US TO DO TO US IN THE NAME OF "JUSTICE FOR ALL," "PEACE," AND "EQUALITY." IF YOU FIND THIS BOOK UNSETTLING, THAT IS GOOD. IT SHOULD SCARE YOU INTO ACTION!

What other book might you compare Atlas Shrugged to and why?

2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY; ANIMAL FARM--BUT A.S. IS MUCH MORE TIMELY TO TODAY.

What does Christopher Hurt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

DON'T KNOW. NEVER READ IT TO COMPARE AUDIO VERSION.

Who was the most memorable character of Atlas Shrugged and why?

THEY WERE ALL NECESSARY TO THE STORY, SO NO FAVORITES.

    Any additional comments?

LISTEN TO THIS BOOK--IT'S LONG, AND SLOW TO START, BUT STICK WITH IT AND YOU WILL BE TOTALLY BOWLED OVER BY THE SIMILARITIES IN TODAY'S POLITICS.

Since the introduction of dietary guidelines calling for reduced fat intake in the 1970s, a strange phenomenon has occurred: Americans have steadily, inexorably become heavier, less healthy, and more prone to diabetes than ever before. After putting more than two thousand of his at-risk patients on a wheat-free regimen and seeing extraordinary results, cardiologist William Davis has come to the disturbing conclusion that it is not fat, not sugar, not our sedentary lifestyle that is causing America’s obesity epidemic—it is wheat.

Prodigal Summer weaves together three stories of human love within a larger tapestry of lives in southern Appalachia. At the heart of these intertwined narratives is a den of coyotes that have recently migrated into the region. Deanna Wolfe, a reclusive wildlife biologist, watches them from an isolated mountain cabin where she is caught off-guard by Eddie Bondo, a young hunter who comes to invade her most private spaces and her solitary life.

In her new essay collection, the beloved author of High Tide in Tucson brings to us from one of history's darker moments an extended love song to the world we still have. From its opening parable gleaned from recent news about a lost child saved in an astonishing way, the book moves on to consider a world of surprising and hopeful prospects, ranging from an inventive conservation scheme in a remote jungle to the backyard flock of chickens tended by the author's small daughter.

Not your typical boring diet book, this is a tart-tongued, no-holds-barred wakeup call to all women who want to be thin. With such blunt advice as "soda is liquid Satan" and "you are a total moron if you think the Atkins Diet will make you thin", it's a rallying cry for all savvy women to start eating healthy and looking radiant. Unlike standard diet books, it actually makes the reader laugh out loud with its truthful, smart-mouthed revelations.

Jane Rochford was the sister-in-law to Anne Boleyn and Lady of the Bedchamber to Catherine Howard, whom she followed to the scaffold in 1542. Hers is a life of extraordinary drama as a witness to and participant in the greatest events of Henry's reign. Her supposed part in both Anne Boleyn's and Catherine Howard's downfall has led to her being reviled through the centuries.

Eating is about more than satisfying our hunger. It's also about the environment, social justice, personal development, and sustainable living. Many Americans already know this. We're eating less red meat and more organically produced foods, and most restaurants offer vegetarian options. But do we really know the truth about mechanized animal farming and slaughterhouses, herbicide and pesticide use, and labels that promise "Certified Humane"?
