Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages - not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

Let me just say this, these are some hardcore angels! Don't read this book expecting halos and harps. These angels come with swords and fire wings and they are beautiful and terrible and let me tell you it WORKS! And then there where the others. The others give new meaning to lions and tigers and bears-oh my! The tangle of beasts in this books are just as engaging and mysterious as they are monterous-in the physical sense that is. And the stories heroine is a blue haired 17yo artist who amazingly enough ties both worlds together without even knowing it. This is a wonderful book. I enjoyed every bit of it and i look forward to reading the entire series once it is available.
The reader does a wonderful job bringing all these bright and curious beings to life. Well done everyone!
