Damien Knight, the earl of Winterley, is proud, aloof, and tormented by memories of war. Though living in seclusion, he is named guardian to a fellow officer's ward. Instead of the young homeless waif he was expecting, however, Miranda FitzHubert is a stunning, passionate beauty who invades his sanctuary and forces him back into society. Struggling to maintain honor and self-control, Damien now faces an even greater threat: desire.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The male hero of this book, and he was written as an incredibly masculine war hero, sounded like a sick weak old woman. The female characters sounded stronger than him.

What did you like best about this story?

    Great story

How could the performance have been better?

Most of the voices were fine, but it seemed the hero voice was purposely made to sound wimpy. It was so bad I downloaded the book on iBooks because the story was ruined for me.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

A more masculine sounding voice for Damien.

    Any additional comments?

Don't waste your credit. Wonderful story. Buy the book or download it on your ereader.

They called him the Demon Earl. They said he could do anything. Son of a rogue and a gypsy, Nicolas Davies was a notorious rake until a shattering betrayal left him alone and embittered in the Welsh countryside. Desperation drives quiet schoolmistress Clare Morgan to ask the Demon Earl to help save her village. Unwilling to involve himself in the problems of others, Nicholas sets an impossible price on his aid-only if Clare will live with him for three months, letting the world think the worst, will he intervene.

How could the performance have been better?

There was no way to tell which character was speaking in the book because both lead characters sounded exactly the same. The hero sounded effeminate which really ruined the listening experience, especially since Nicholas was described as a "notorious rake". Oftentimes I couldn't tell whether it was Clare or Nicholas speaking. The book was confusing to listen to.

Was Thunder and Roses worth the listening time?

No. The book would be more enjoyable to read.
