The author had very unique descriptions and details that took me to Victorian England. Each characters role in the story were blended very well. The reader has voice inflections for each character that made this a very entertaining listen. The book was well written and you are pulled into the story very smoothly.

Ten years ago, Craig Johnson wrote his first short story, the Hillerman Award-winning "Old Indian Trick". This was one of the earliest appearances of the sheriff who would go on to star in Johnson’s best-selling, award-winning novels and the A&E hit series Longmire. Each Christmas Eve thereafter, fans rejoiced when Johnson sent out a new short story featuring an episode in Walt’s life that doesn’t appear in the novels; over the years, many have asked why they can’t buy the stories in book form.

All the short stories were very enjoyable listens! I listened to them again when my husband wanted to hear them. He enjoyed them just as much and I did. My favorite was the Thanksgiving story! Waiting anxiously for your next book Craig Johnson!

New York Times best-selling author C. J. Box's Below Zero is the 10th novel featuring Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett. The telephone calls from her stepdaughter April send chills down the spine of Joe's daughter Sherry. Wasn't April murdered six years ago in a bloody massacre? Wondering how this youthful caller knows details only April could know, Sherry becomes confused while Joe grows suspicious. Is the caller April - or are Joe and his family victims of a cruel hoax?

Very descriptive writing, this story line made me tear up in sadness and in happiness in several areas in the book. Heartwarming ending! You don't have to listen to the entire series to enjoy this book, but it helps to bring everything into prospective. On to the next C.J. Box book in the series!

In The Keeper of Lost Causes, Jussi Adler-Olsen introduced Detective Carl Mørck, a deeply flawed, brilliant detective newly assigned to run Department Q, the home of Copenhagen’s coldest cases. The result wasn’t what Mørck - or readers - expected, but by the opening of Adler-Olsen’s shocking, fast-paced follow-up, Mørck is satisfied with the notion of picking up long-cold leads. So he’s naturally intrigued when a closed case lands on his desk: A brother and sister were brutally murdered two decades earlier....

    Story

This story was very good, well written...but it was too "messed" up for me, meaning it was really gruesome. My husband loved it! I know there are people in the world like those in the book and it was disturbing to me, but my husband says "it's just a good story, by a clever minded author". I know my hubby will read the sequence of Department Q...I'm not sure I will. The reader was very good, the plot was enthralling.

Best-selling author C. J. Box—an Anthony and Macavity Award winner—earned starred reviews from both Publishers Weekly and Booklist for this exceptional mystery. Taking advantage of a legal loophole, a lawyer kills four people in Yellowstone National Park and walks away a free man. As the public outcry intensifies, the governor hires former game warden Joe Pickett to conduct a private investigation.

I had been to Yellowstone National Park several times and C.J. Box took me back there with the descriptions of the lodge, the mud springs, Old Faithful etc. The characters all mesh nicely in the book and he presented a very nice story. I like that he brings back good ol' Nate. I love his character! Wasn't a predictable plot and was an enjoyable listen. I have read all of the Joe Pickett books in sequence so far. Looking forward to all of them.

Wow! Some of the descriptive scenes were pretty brutal, but necessary to depict the story to completion. Well written and suspenseful! I enjoy CJ Box involves Joe Pickett's family in each book and describes how much bureaucracy there is within the departments of his job and the chain of command involved with his position as a Wyoming game warden. Each book of the Joe Pickett series gets better and better!

It's an idyllic late-summer day in Saddlestring, Wyoming, and game warden Joe Pickett is fly-fishing with his two daughters when he stumbles upon the mutilated body of a moose. Whatever - or whoever - attacked the animal was ruthless: half the animal's face has been sliced away, the skin peeled back from the flesh. Shaken by the sight, Joe starts to investigate what he hopes in an isolated incident.

This book enlightens the reader on some of the ways each department of the US government handle situations involving crimes in the wilderness. Very informative read! CJ Box is an awesome writer and the Joe Pickett series are very captivating. All of his family are mentioned in each book and he involves them in his stories which I like. I recommend this series to anyone that enjoys vast countryside descriptions of Wyoming along with a well written story.

His books routinely top the bestseller lists in northern Europe, and he's won just about every Nordic crime-writing award, including the prestigious Glass Key Award-also won by Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson, and Jo Nesbo. Author Craig Johnson is one of my favorites! I have enjoyed the series and hope for more! This book is about modern life in Wyoming with the oil field, Cheyenne nation and the unlawful branch off of the LDS church. George (the reader) should of done his homework on the LDS religion and Utah, he mispronounced several common words in the west. Other than that, the story was well written and did not disappoint! As always, I enjoy the humor, vast descriptions and the characters in this series. Keep 'em coming Mr. Johnson!
