When Amaliya harnessed her necromancer powers to defeat her greatest enemy, she believed she had finally found a happy ending with Cian, her lover and the master of Austin. That happiness is short-lived when the vampire ruling over San Antonio attempts a takeover of Austin in order to capture Amaliya and use her power for his own devices.

The plot twists were well done and I wasn't expecting a return of certain characters. The detailed areas of planning for fights and traveling could move along a little faster though.

I was glad to finally listen to one of Mead's adult books. The future world she creates is very believable and full of detail. I was surprised everything wasn't explained at the beginning of the book, as Mead usually does. It got a little frustrating but then I read a review and understood that explanation would come. The supernatural element is very different from any other book I've read. This is a unique series.

Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse. Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this book in the beginning but as soon as the plot started to form and Aria began to change, I was hooked! I'd like there to be two narrators for the male and female parts in the age group corresponding to the characters.

The night after the fourth of July, Layton Carlson, Jr., of Red Wing, Minnesota, finally got lucky. And unlucky.

He’d picked the perfect spot to lose his virginity to his girlfriend, an abandoned farmyard in the middle of cornfields: nice, private, and quiet. The only problem was...something smelled bad - like, really bad. He mentioned it to a county deputy he knew, and when the cop took a look, he found a body stuffed down a cistern. And then another, and another. By the time Lucas Davenport was called in, the police were up to 15 bodies and counting.

This is very much like Sandford's earlier Davenport books, being on the hunt for a serial killer. The ending was quite shocking. I hope one of the new characters introduced in the book will get her own series.

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school - it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's - the very place where they're most in danger.

In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection - pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises, not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth - at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

The book has a good plot but I think it's terribly frustrating for an adult to read. SPOILERS: Emma is being terribly abused but won't say anything because she doesn't want her cousins to loose their mother. Logic would say that she could end up abusing Emma's cousins as well. When she ends up in the hospital, when teachers try to confront her, she says nothing then it nearly ends in tragedy. I don't understand why the book was 14 hours. The story could have been conveyed in 7.

When Marie-Louise, the 18-year-old daughter of the King of Austria, is told that the Emperor has demanded her hand in marriage, her father presents her with a terrible choice: marry the cruel, capricious Napoleon, leaving the man she loves and her home forever, or say no, and plunge her country into war. Marie-Louise knows what she must do, and she travels to France, determined to be a good wife despite Napoleon’s reputation. But lavish parties greet her in Paris, and at the extravagant French court, she finds many rivals for her husband’s affection....

To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If they have read the previous Mortal Instruments books, yes I would...for closure.

If you’ve listened to books by Cassandra Clare before, how does this one compare?

This was my least favorite of the Mortal Instruments books. Conversations kept getting interrupted by someone's death, or screaming, or attack, or just somebody else walking into the room. Things went on unresolved and unknown by the main characters for way too long. There is such a thing as being too detailed...get to the point! I mean, how long can you hold a sword to someone's chest and discuss their death?

Which character – as performed by Natalie Moore – was your favorite?

Natalie did a good job capturing Simon's character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    It's only 2 hours.

George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

I attempted to read this book but had no luck staying interested until l listened to it. I am not sure I fully understand the ending but the plot and the details of the society are frightening and fascinating. The government has no accountability to the truth.
