In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

The story starts spinning a web that entangles you in the lives of so many characters. As the last words were read, I couldn't wait for the next book. I was captured by Mr. Martin's writing and was thrilled to know that the 2nd book was ready to start.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

Where does Unbroken rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best biographies I have ever listened to, upon finishing it I bought the hard back version of the book for my father, brother and nephews. This book makes one think about the trials our service members have gone through for the freedom that we often are not thankful for.
