"Excellent"
I visited the Panama Canal in August and then listened to this audio book. It is very informative about everything you ever wanted, or needed to know about the Panama canal.
"Enjoyable and Depressing."
There was much I didn't know about Bobby Fischer that Frank Brady brought out in the book. I enjoyed the reading/performance of Ray Porter. Ray sounded like you would think Bobby sounded.
This is a very enjoyable listen. I warn listeners that they are about to get very mad at Bobby for the bigot he became. A genius, yes.
The book makes you think about all that Bobby could have been had he not embarked on such a hateful course.
It appears that he couldn't help himself as he was self loathing.
I would have liked to have heard more about opinions of his "psychosis" from a psychological perspective. After hearing about this man, I am left with the conclusion that he was very lonely and sad.
I would highly recommend the book.
"Liberated & Entertaining Character"
This is as lucid and funny as I would like to be when I reach 80 years old. Shatner is a funny guy who appears to be enjoying life. I chuckled many times during the listen. I saw myself many times during the book. I like the sound effects like the bell when he introduces a new "rule". I hope Bill gets to live until 120. Like the Jews say he should live to "hudert tzvanzig yooren"
"Great, honest, entertaining listen"
Amazing life. Amazing that Keith is still alive. Johnny Depp does a great read, the other voices are very good. Keith does a good job.
"Nice Prose, Short on story"
Very nice descriptive character development, however, after waiting for the protagonist to get into serious trouble, Steve pulls his punches. I enjoyed the listen since it was leading to the conclusion based on external forces not the main character's efforts.. All the risks of the protagonist, made her a success until the environment changed her situation.
"Corporate,Dry, Boring"
I own a BMW. I have owned several other BMW's. I think they are exciting to drive and built well. This book is not exciting. The history starts well into the body of the book, where I thing it should start at the beginning. The reader is good, but this corporate account of most all of the BMW's since inception comes off as a company production. Interesting but not compelling reading.
"Freeky Fun"
Fun Book
"I liked it"
I like to cook, so this was fun. The back story was interesting to see the triumph of an underdog.
"Great audio Book"
As a Jew, I was captivated by the book. I then saw the movie which was pretty darn good too.
"Just OK"
The thesis is redundantly applied to every occurrence as a universal law of the universe. I rather think Gladwell fit selected historical events to the theorem....thus a tight fit. In general I thought it interesting but a "so so" audio book. It would not be a waste of your time to listen to the Outliers.
