So, I went into this series not expecting much at all. To be honest, I was expecting something written badly but I was pleasantly surprised. So here we go:

-At first, I did not like the narrator and thought his voices where corny, but he grew on me and I ended up enjoying him

    - The book was actually pretty clever and overall, it was very different from other things I have read.

    - I feel that there needs to be more to this series, it does not seem to have an end. This is a good thing!

In Magic's Pawn, an ancient age in the history of Valdemar comes to life - an age when the kingdom was ravaged by the ungoverned fury of bandit warlords, ferocious ice dragons, and the wild magic of wizards. A new addition to Lackey's Valdemar kingdom - and her most powerful series to date!

    Any additional comments?

This is a great book that I have come back to re-read in audio and I must say that its much better than what I remember. Perhaps that I am more mature now or that the reader did such a great job, but I find myself loving it.

BUT, audible, where is the rest of the series. You are killing me!

So this book was very different from my usual fantasy listens, but it was cheap and I needed something for my commute until I get another credit. This book has me hooked to the series now.

Give the narrator a chance, at first, it sounds like he may be trying to eat the microphone. om nom nom, right? But give him time and he will hook you, and I now enjoy the recording style, he put emotion into his voice and does voices rather well.

I am not on book 2 and soon to be 3, this series is fantastic.

Before long he and Seregil are embroiled in a sinister plot that runs deeper than either can imagine and that may cost them far more than their lives if they fail. Here is a world where men and dragons coexist amid political intrigue and dark magic, where the uneasy balance of power between the two is on the verge of becoming undone, threatening to unleash waves of destruction that will pit humans against humans as well as dragons against men for the domination of the world. Humanity's very survival is at risk.

I went into this story expecting the worst. After reading some of the reviews I was worried that it was going to be a waste of credit, but I was wrong. This book is very good, well written with fun characters and and different take on dragons. It was refreshing for me, someone who adores dragons.
