Island of the Sequined Love Nun is a cute story. This is what I've come to expect from Christopher Moore; a light amusing story revolving around quirky characters. I think it's worth the download.
This is a good book. The plot is tight. The characters are intriguing and the premise of a post-infected world being protected by superheroes is engaging.
If you like comics and zombie movies, this is the book for you.
I Jonesed for every new Nightside book and I liked the Secret Histories, making this book such a let down. I couldn't finish it.
I suggest Green fans try the Ghost Finders series after the two mentioned above. I don't recommend this book.
As for the narrator, his performance did not enhance the plot. Bad chemistry? I don't know.
I'm listening to this book right now and am having a hard time evaluating it because the narration is sooo bad. The narrator cannot do characters at all. Except for Nessy, the character voices include one really bad Scottish (I think) accent, and a bunch of typical ghost-like sounding supports. By attempting to make everyone sound supernatural, she throws off the rthym of their speech and irritates the hell out of me. Too bad, it might even be a good book otherwise.
If I had a zillion dollars I turn this book into a movie. The cinematographic writing would translate wonderfully to film. The characters are typical over-the-top paramilitary stock. The monsters creepy and mean. The gore splattered everywhere. If you like the genre, it's a good listen.
The narrator takes a classic Prattchet and makes it painfully hard to listen to. The pace is so slow you begin to wonder if the narrator lost her place in the book. Everyone, with the exception of Nanny Ogg, sounds bored. Nanny Ogg sounds both bored and "special".
What a way to ruin a good book.
The author creates an interesting world full of a myriad of fairie kind making the book an interesting listen. The plotline is well crafted. I agree with others that the narration doesn't fit the character. The narrator orates like a victim rather than a strong protaganist. I liked the book anyway.
If you are looking for an action/mystery with a fantasy setting this isn't the book for you. If you are looking for multiple sex scenes with fantasy characters, you are in the right place. The plot takes the protagonist from partner to partner with very little content in between.
I found this title very disappointing and was unable to finish it. Titles of this genre (erotic fantasy?) should be differentiated from traditional sci-fi/fantasy.
