  • Shatter Me

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Tahereh Mafi
    • Narrated By Kate Simses
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"You can't touch me," I whisper. I'm lying, is what I don't tell him. He can touch me, is what I'll never tell him. But things happen when people touch me. Strange things. Bad things. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own.

Jess Russell says: "Good story, but SO OVER DRAMATIC."
What did you love best about Shatter Me?

the book itself started out slow but once it got going, i was hooked. i love the character and don't agree with other people's reviews saying that she's weak. i'd like to see how strong they'd be in her situation! she's very strong considering the obstacles she's gone through.

What did you like best about this story?

warner. i know, i know! he's the bad guy but honestly i'm all for warner. also, i really liked kenji too.

    Which scene was your favorite?

all of them, i can't pick just one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    i'm not that creative....

    Any additional comments?

i really enjoyed the narrator. i'll be seeking out other books she's narrated. i like the youngness and softness to her voice. i think it fit the character in this book perfectly.

  • Obsidian: Lux, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Jennifer L. Armentrout
    • Narrated By Justine Eyre

When 17-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she'd pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy Internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up...until he opened his mouth. Daemon Black is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. It's hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot guy next door? Well, he's an alien.

    Katheryne says: "Holy Alien Hotness"
What would have made Obsidian better?

as an audiobook, the narrator could have been better. i can see the need for her voice in audiobooks because she has a unique, interesting voice but in this particular book, it made the whole experience so much worse.

the book is about a teenager and this is a grown woman. her voice doesn't fit the book at all.

What was most disappointing about Jennifer L. Armentrout’s story?

just not my cup of tea at all. i'm not into aliens.

How could the performance have been better?

this narrator is not for this book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    not for me, unfortunately.

    Any additional comments?

i was completely disappointed. i read a lot of good reviews about this book but i just couldn't get into it. at first, i thought it was because of the narrator but honestly, i don't think i would have finished it even if i read it on a kindle or paper book.

  • Fifty Shades Darker: Book Two of the Fifty Shades Trilogy

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By E. L. James
    • Narrated By Becca Battoe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Daunted by the singular tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house. But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist.

    "Awful, just awful."
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who don't know a good book from a bad one.

What was most disappointing about E. L. James’s story?

If i heard "Holy sh**" one more time, I was going to SCREAM!

How could the performance have been better?

This girl was "valley girl" the entire book series! I realize they needed someone who sounded innocent but honestly, this girl should not be narrating audiobooks. She was very whiney. The different character voices were awful.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fifty Shades Darker?

All of it? I know that sounds bad but honestly, the book is completely lacking.

    Any additional comments?

This book series is very overrated!
