Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Star Wars films), fresh off the success of his uproarious, Audie-nominated performance of the mock children’s book Go the F**k to Sleep, delivers a swaggering, darkly-humored rendering of Chester Himes’ classic first novel.

If you could sum up A Rage in Harlem in three words, what would they be?

This was a great book. The story was attention-grabbing and enjoyable. Samuel L. Jackson was great. He brought life to the characters and that kept me wanting more.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

Mike Wingate had a rough childhood  —  he was abandoned at a playground at four years old and raised in foster care. No one ever came to claim him, and he has only a few, fragmented memories of his parents. Now, as an adult, Mike is finally living the life he had always wanted  —  he’s happily married to Annabel, the woman of his dreams; they have a precocious eight-year-old daughter, Kat.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand more about life and religion in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Muslim countries.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Kite Runner?

The most memorable moments were Amir's conflict with himself about what he wants to be and what he actually is, and Hassan's complete loyalty and love for Amir. If only everyone in the world had Hassan's courage, loyalty and sensibilities.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

At first no, then yes. Unfortunately I had to listen a little bit at a time.

    Any additional comments?

I didn't want this book to end when it did. I would love to here Sohrab's story but, at the same time, I'm pretty sure I already know it.

Determined to find out what happened to her former deputy chief, Jack Fielding, murdered six months earlier, Kay Scarpetta travels to the Georgia Prison for Women, where an inmate has information not only on Fielding, but also on a string of grisly killings. The murder of an Atlanta family years ago, a young woman on death row, and the inexplicable deaths of homeless people as far away as California seem unrelated. But Scarpetta discovers connections that compel her to conclude that what she thought ended with Fielding's death and an attempt on her own life is only the beginning....

Would you listen to Red Mist again? Why?

I really enjoyed Red Mist. It was a little slow at the beginning but after a couple of chapters it got really good. I was even listening at work because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Kate Burton's interpretation of the character's voices was right on!

Have you listened to any of Kate Burton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I heard Kate Burton in The Scarpetta Factor. She does a really wonderful job. I enjoy her readings.
