  • The Commitment: Love, Sex, Marriage, and My Family

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Dan Savage
    • Narrated By Paul Michael Garcia
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Dan Savage’s mother wants him to get married. His boyfriend, Terry, says “no thanks” because he doesn’t want to act like a straight person. Their six-year-old son, D.J., says his two dads aren’t “allowed” to get married but that he’d like to come to the reception and eat cake. Throw into the mix Dan’s straight siblings, whose varied choices form a microcosm of how Americans are approaching marriage these days, and you get a rollicking family memoir that will have everyone—gay or straight, right or left, single or married—howling with laughter.

Michelle says: "Amusing, but missed Dan's voice"
"I love Dan Savage! Great book! thank you!"
Where does The Commitment rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a tribute to love. As I see it anyone could benefit from listening to a successful person in relationship speaking from the heart and being humorous along the way.

What did you like best about this story?

the authentic way of writing that Dan does so well

Have you listened to any of Paul Michael Garcia’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

  • Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 36 mins)
    • By Brené Brown
    • Narrated By Karen White

Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

Fulfillment and Exuberance says: "Love Brene Brown, didn't like the narrator"
    "The readers voice is horrific!"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Get it re-recorded with a voice that is gentle and real. Who decided this was a good choice for such beautiful content?!?!?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Daring Greatly?

I didn't get past the introduction because I loathed listening to the voice...that much!

How could the performance have been better?

present, a good actor, a kind voice....anyone would have been a better choice than this one!

    Any additional comments?

I would like my money back for this since I can't listen it to it without feeling my skin crawl. Again, not the content AT ALL, but the narrator find a new profession!
