At a moment when the world is asking, "Can the religions get along?" one figure stands out as the shared ancestor of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. One man holds the key to our deepest fears and our possible reconciliation. Abraham.

Three Faiths and three different perspectives well examined.
What I enjoyed about this book is the deep insights into the man and the legends that have arisen about him over time. I loved the narration and the passion Mr Fielder has for his subjects. I will listen to this one time and again.

George S. Patton was a general who achieved greatness in his field by contradicting his own nature. A cavalryman steeped in romantic military tradition, he nevertheless pulled a reluctant American military into the most advanced realms of highly mobile armored warfare. An autocratic snob, Patton created unparalleled rapport and loyalty with the lowliest private in his command.

Chris Reich says: "Odd Reading, Great Book"
"Not too detailed and not too superficial"
    Overall

I recnetly purchased a book on Patton. It was boring due to the author's desire to include every "new" detail ferreted out from correspondence, etc. This book provides a well paced narrative. I loved it. Ron

James M. McPherson, professor emeritus of U.S. history at Princeton, is one of the foremost scholars of the Civil War. In this informative and meticulously researched masterpiece, he clarifies the differing ways of life and philosophy that led to this shattering conflict. Abraham Lincoln wondered whether "in a free government the minority have the right to break up the government". And Jefferson Davis felt "forced to take up arms" to guarantee states' rights.

    Brian says: "Incredible audio book"
    "True Modern Classic"
    Overall

There are longer books on the American Civil War, there are books with more elevated prose, but I doubt that you can find any single volume book that comes close to explaining this defining event in American History. I am not a historian, but I love history and this book is well nararated and a "must have" for history buffs.
