I enjoy a real variety of fiction, so I always try to keep a few series of books going at the same time, depending on my mood - I have loved the Janet Evanovich books for my "light reading", but had read everything she had, so I started searching for "new to me" authors. I did enjoy this book, although, I am sure as the series goes on and the characters are fleshed out/developed more thoroughly, I will get more into the story line. All in all, I do not regret this purchase, and look forward to reading the next in the series.
James Patterson is another of my favorites, but, as with a few other of my favorite series, I have grown tired of Alex Cross. However, I have continued to read all the stand alones, and even some I missed through the years. "Guilty Wives" is another winner, another one you won't want to stop listening to. The story is wonderful, a fun filled girls weekend with unexpected deadly consequences. As for how it happened, let's just say that jealousy can be a horrible thing......give this book a listen - you won't be dissappointed!
I love Harlan Coben, but to be honest, I had grown tired of Bolitar, so I had stayed away for a while. This stand alone novel reminded me of why I fell so hard for his books in the first place. I couldn't stop listening after the first few minutes. Worth the credit!
I have been reading Stephen King for over twenty five years, and loved his books.....back then. In all honesty, he "lost" me for the last ten years or so, as I couldn't read and like pretty much anything he put out during that time. I really thought that he was done, had given up. Then a couple years ago, I happened upon "Duma Key", and decided to give him another try. What a pleasant surprise! I could tell that Stephen was on the way back. I also enjoyed finding "Cell", and "Under The Dome". With those recent "successes" in mind, I was anticipating "11-22-63" to be a "decent" read. Boy was I WRONG!! It wasn't a "decent" read, it was WONDERFUL! With all the rich detail that I had loved in earlier reads ("IT"), I knew that Stephen King was back! This story is so unlike anything else I have read of his in other ways, but it kept me very interested from the beginning, and made me think throughout. I have never been a fan of time travel sort of literature, but Mr King has made me rethink that statement, I LOVED this book, and highly recommend it to Stephen King fans from "AGO" ......(listen to the book, you'll get it)
Wow! I couldn't stop telling people about this book! This was also another series that I was not sure if i would like, and I was right...didn't like it...LOVED IT! The story was one of survival, perseverance, and fighting the system. The characters were very well developed, especially for youths. I guess i don't really know what to say exactly about this book, except to say that you won't be sorry for listening to it!
I was not sure at first that I would like this series, but after exhausting all of the books in my "comfort zone" I decided to give the Dexter series a try. It did take me a little while to acclimate myself to a main character so seemingly without "feelings", but once I did, the story was wonderfully different and exciting...can't wait to listen to book 2!
