"Fantastic Listen!"
Over my 4 years of being a member here, this is one of the best books I have listened to! The author's writing style is superb, the characters enjoyable, and it is all made even better by the superb performance of Gerard Doyle's narration - one of the best I have heard, and in the same class as Frank Mueller, whom I sorely miss! I give this book the highest marks on all counts!
"Solid start to what looks to be a great series!"
Not sure how I missed this series, but glad a friend recommended it recently! Good story, well developed characters (that you can actually care about), and very well paced, never a dull moment! Won't give anything away, other than to say I give this book my highest recommendation! Also worthy of note is the excellent narration by Joe Barrett - he may be my favorite narrator now, very reminiscent of the late, great, Frank Muller - and that is the highest praise I could give any narrator! Can't wait to start the next book, though I see Mr. Barrett is not the narrator this time around, too bad - will be listening to some of his other work in the near future!
"Most entertaining book I have read this year !!"
Very near the top of the list! OK, this is not Shakespeare or Dickens, but it IS 100% entertaining! Especially if you grew up in the 70's and 80's, and even more so if you happened to be a geek during those years
close between Aech and Art3mis, but to answer why would entail spoilers....
Very well done, fits right in to the story
It was a TERRIFIC stroll down memory lane for me, having been a computer game geek and computer nerd during just the times this book references constantly... (My first computer was a Radio Shack TRS-80, graduating to an Atari 800, then a Commadore 64...)
I found this to be one of the most entertaining reads in a long while, partly because of the memories evoked by all of the old game and computer references, but also has a great story - I was sad when it was over!
"Sure to be a classic!"
Roy Dotrice delivers one of the best narrations I have ever heard (and having been an Audible subscriber for over 10 years, that is saying quite a lot!). He really sets the mood with his accents and character voices, glad to see he does the rest of this series also!
Don't want to give away any spoilers!!
As I mentioned above, Roy's accents and character voices are all done superbly and really do add to the ambience.
I believe HBO has already done this :)
Get this one, you won't regret it!
