"A Beautifully Told Story"
I was skeptical about listening to this book because I am a dog lover and I was afraid that it would be too sad for me. However, this was incredibly well-written. I never got to the point where I was too distraught to listen. This book took me through a full range of emotions. One minute I was tearing up and the next I was chuckling to myself. It brought to mind my own beloved dog(s).
I highly recommend this book!!!
"A Bit Graphic"
I really enjoy Gillian Flynn's writing however, this book was a bit graphic at points. There were parts that were very difficult to listen to. I prefer her other books over this one.
"Learning to Live and Love"
The narrator was superb. He commanded a variety of accents with ease and believability. In other words, the accents were not forced. The story was delightful. Fenno held the perfect mix in a character, lovable, but with enough flaws to make the reader care about him.
"Where's the action?"
Three hours into the story and I have yet to hear anything that compells me to keep listening. The only reason I listened for that long was because I was traveling and I had not downloaded another audiobook. Too much description, not enough action. I have no idea what the protagonist's goal was, and I never will. I gave up.
