Whether you love Bill O'Reilly or not, you have to give him and Martin Dugard credit for writing a great book on a pivotal time in American history. I learned something new with every chapter ... you will, too!
This is a different Grisham. Still good courtroom action, but from the kid perspective. I have every Theo book, and enjoy them over and over again.
If you enjoy courtroom action, then you'll like Randy Singer's "Directed Verdict." The plot is very plausible, especially in our current world. There are enough twists and turns to keep one guessing. And Singer's manner of presenting the Gospel is handled in a genuine fashion ... direct, but not obnoxious.
Cameron Beierle is a capable narrator. I felt that he sometimes got his characters confused, but rarely enough so as not to kill the book for me.
This is one of the few books where the 2nd in the series was actually better than the first! If you enjoy books that are believable, and narration that "fits" this is a really good listen.
I have read and/or listened to every John Grisham book I could get my hands on, and The Testament is definitely one of my favorites. The story line is riveting. Frank Muller's narration is perfect, especially for conveying the timelessness of the Amazon river system. And the life-changing message of the Gospel is made clear and believable. Great book!
I have read everything Joel Rosenberg has written ... and this is the best by far! A superb blending of tragic history and a wonderful story of hope and faith. Christopher Lane's narration is perfect for this book. His characterizations are believable and filled with emotion. Please read this book!
John Grisham, with his Theo Boone series, has proven again that he's a master of the legal genre, and that he can even make it fun for younger readers.
Richard Thomas does a good job of reading, without trying to fake a bunch of character voices.
While it's true that I listen to most books more than once, I have found myself drawn to Unbroken over and over, and over and over again. It has become my entire family's most requested book when we travel! You NEED to hear this.
The story is classic Grisham in its own right. And Frank Muller's narration is an excellent blending of the story and the presentation.
Having been a Grisham fan for many years, The Racketeer was a unique adventure into the twists and turns of our justice system and those whose lives intersect it.
I don't always agree with Grisham's conclusions, but I appreciate that he challenges my thinking.
